Are We Eating Beakless, Featherless Mutant Chickens?

16 Mar

killer-zombie-chicken-from-outer-space

There’s a rumor circulating the web about Kentucky Fried Chicken, or rather, KFC. There have been numerous articles about KFC stating that they do not serve ‘real’ chicken and that’s why they were forced by the government to change their name to one that doesn’t mention chicken. Now, first of all, I have as many doubts as the next guy about the government, but this is a little much. Do you really think the government is going to allow an establishment, no matter how much of an American tradition it may be, to feed us mutant chickens? Nah! Even I’m not that cynical. Nevertheless, the rumors are still out there. Here are some examples of what’s being passed around:

– KFC has been a part of our American traditions for many years. Many people, day in and day out, eat at KFC religiously. Do they really know what they are eating? During a recent study of KFC done at the University of New Hampshire, they found some very upsetting facts.

– First of all, has anybody noticed that just recently, the company has changed their name? Kentucky Fried Chicken has become KFC. Does anybody know why? We thought the real reason was because of the “FRIED” food issue. It’s not. The reason why they call it KFC is because they can not use the word chicken anymore. Why? KFC does not use real chickens. They actually use genetically manipulated organisms. These so called “chickens” are kept alive by tubes inserted into their bodies to pump blood and nutrients throughout their structure. They have no beaks, no feathers, and no feet. Their bone structure is dramatically shrunk to get more meat out of them. This is great for KFC because they do not have to pay so much for their production costs. There is no more plucking of the feathers or the removal of the beaks and feet. The government has told them to change all of their menus so they do not say chicken anywhere. If you look closely you will notice this. Listen to their commercials, I guarantee you will not see or hear the word chicken. I find this matter to be very disturbing. I hope people will start to realize this and let other people know. Please forward this message to as many people as you can. Together we make KFC start using real chicken again.

This is an example of some of the disturbing images associated with the claims that KFC is genetically engineering mutant chickens to save a buck.

kfcchicken

I don’t believe that there are sub-chickens in some laboratory with multiple wings and thighs. However, I have no doubt that real chickens are given ‘special’ feed and pumped-up with hormones to make them larger and meatier. Whatever you believe, there’s no reason to fret. You enjoy Kentucky style fried chicken? Make it yourself! It isn’t difficult or time consuming and it may even be cost effective. Anyway, you won’t have to worry about an urban legend keeping you up at night.

Scary. But it is happening with milk too…they inject prolactin into the cows to increase milk yield. Which is why so many young girls today have PCOD and other hormonal imbalances so early in life. Abusing technology…

Real life horror stories. I have seen a rise in PCOD cases in young women. So sad. I guess the only way to guarantee that what we eat is safe is having our own farm?

I’m not sure that I believe the mutant chicken thing, but I think it matters what brand of chicken you buy. Maybe? They probably feed them GMO corn the same as most people eat without realizing. Good article Vashti.

Hi Vashti, my real worry with chicken is more in the hormones and antibiotics. We are very selective in our buying of things. I notice the more and more I read the harder it is to shop!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this informative post with us at the Countdown in Style link up!

Hello! The adding of hormones and antibiotics are my main concern also. Being in the medical field I know the consequences that can bring, especially to our kids. You’re right, the more I read the more difficult it is to know what to buy! You’re welcome and thank you for reading. 🙂

I am actually sick to my stomach just thinking about the “possibility” but I don’t believe the mutant chicken deal, but I know they are abusive to the chickens I have heard they cut their beaks off etc etc…I think the tube bit, is an urban legend with some truth to it. They are definitely doing things to make them meatier which isn’t safe for the animal or for us. I am not an animal activist, but I believe that an animal should be treated well all of its life and even more so if they are later to grace our dinner tables. It is a great service to us that we have the option to eat meat so I think animals that give their life for us deserve our love, respect and care. I hope that doesn’t sound crazy! LOL

That doesn’t sound crazy at all, Heather. As a matter of fact I agree with you wholeheartedly! I’ve read about the cutting of beaks also. They keep them in very tight quarters, so in order for them not to fight and peck each other to death they cut their beaks. It’s a real life horror story what these companies do in the name of greed.

The ‘mutant chicken’ claim may or may not be true, but I just don’t trust the food these large chains of fast food restaurants are selling us. I work in the medical field and I’ve seen a rise in hormone-based diseases in young women. It has got to be the hormones they are pumping in the meat that’s causing all this. I believe as long as money keep running this country us regular folks are going to suffer. Sad. 😦

I wouldn’t be surprised if every word if this was true – but I’m dubious about the four-legged chicken picture. Hmmm. However, I have worked in and around chicken ‘despatching’ factories for some time and I was appalled at the throughput of these places. Something has to give at this rate of consumption and I imagine that scientists will be trying every trick in the book to increase productivity. I had a vision of chicken shaped organisms in pods a’la Neo in The Matrix before they broke him free.

I always laugh when people say what the government wouldn’t do lol. We have food on the market now that is tampered with and has added chemicals that are genetically modified in a lab. Even if this isn’t true about KFC, the chickens that are the most inexpensive in the markets ingest food that is not normal for them to eat like corn and are injected with antibiotics so technically these are mutated chickens if you think about it lol. I’m laughing but honestly, it’s sad. You have to spend an arm and a leg to get a chicken that was fed what it was supposed to be fed and wasn’t pumped with toxic chemicals. I think the US is pretty screwed up if you ask me. 😦 Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this matter with us at Countdown in Style! Don’t forget to stop by Friday to see if you are featured!

Hi Brittnei! I guess I can be a bit naive when it comes to the government. You’re right, organic food, free range eggs and natural chickens do cost a lot more than the other stuff. So it’s actually cheaper to purchase fast food than it is to purchase the good stuff and make it yourself. And that is very sad. 😦

Sorry to say I agree with Brittnei, but I’m happy to say I haven’t eaten at KFC in about 20 years. I’d have to be on the brink of starvation to eat there.

As for the government, I don’t put anything past them, but I won’t go so far as to say I think chickens have a few too many legs :/.

Great topic Vashti. It’s important to consider for sure. Nothing is more important than what we eat. I try to stay away from fast food as yeah it is basically toxic for the body. But it is so cheap and sometimes it is a quick fix! It is so expensive to buy organic foods, and it is really, really expensive to buy healthy foods here in Australia. An avocado is $4 some weeks (I love them!), $7.99 for a tiny box of raspberries from the major supermarkets. Strawberries vary from $7.99 to $4 a small box. Apparently Australian’s are catching up with America and the UK, lots of people eating this fast food and it comes down to cost. A lot of people are noticing a big rise in the cost of living and these fast food places are making a lot of money.
As for the mutant chickens, I would not be surprised at all, big business will do anything to make money, even if it kills us. Scary!
    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Thank you Alana! You’re right, proper nutrition is very important, but like you said, the price and convenience of fast food is hard to ignore sometimes. We have similar issues here in the USA. Organic food, free-range chickens, almond milk…are very expensive. I love avocados too! Luckily, there are avocado trees all over here in Florida and I have family with trees in their own backyards. I love berries too so it’s a shame they are so expensive there. I’m not sure what to believe about the mutant chickens, but I know hormones and antibiotics are involved, which is horrible! :/

Businesses are driven by shareholders and shareholders demand profits, so a business will do what is necessary to ensure profits. If you eat food and have no idea of its provenance then you have to accept that some of it will not be what it says on the tin.

For instance, I would never knowingly eat halal meat because I find the process repulsive and inherently cruel so I try to check what is halal and what is not. I use local butchers and not supermarkets because I know where the meat has come from, but I can understand if people don’t have that luxury and when dining out it’s almost impossible to police. Sadly, the food chain is corrupted and there’s no way back.

Hello J.D.! You are so right, the food industry is corrupted. It’s all about the money now. I try to limit how often I have dinner out, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. I don’t eat meat and I try to buy organic, but I understand that everyone cannot do the same. The only way to avoid this tainted food problem is to raise your own animals, fruits and vegetables, and unfortunately, we cannot all be farmers. 😦

Yuck. My husband and I made a commitment about 6 years ago to only eat organic and to purchase local foods whenever we can. Most of what we eat is grown and raised within an hours drive of our home. The manipulation and poisoning of our food source is going to have consequences.

I quit eating at KFC in 2013. I’m so scared of food these days. I only eat at home. But even then I cannot be sure I bought safe food. It seems everyone is in a rush to make a quick buck poisoning the world.
For a long time I trusted vegetables from the supermarket until one day a feature appeared on TV showing them being harvested from spilled sewage. Ugly. Evil.

You’re right there are a lot of bad stuff out there, but this is a problem we must come to grips with in a calm and rational manner. I’ve been doing a lot of cooking at home and I’ve been buying organic fruits and vegetables from local farmers. I also wash my fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consuming them. That’s pretty much all I can do short of growing my own food which I may do sometime in the future (at least some fruits, herbs, and veggies). I’m not going to worry about the things I can’t control. I’ll put those things in God’s hands and go on with my life.
