Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. It’s Haiku Friday! Thanks for visiting. Once again my prompt words come from RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge If you enjoy haiku poetry you should definitely visit his blog. Many people participate in the weekly challenges and they share the link to their haiku on his page and Ronovan also features the haiku poems on the weekend. The prompt words today are Miss and Past. I thought of Easter for some reason and this is what I came up with.
Ēostre
by Vashti Quiroz-Vega
Ο
Goddess of spring past
bunnies and eggs her symbols
Easter was then born
Ο
Missed in the Eddas
Mischievous St Bede
Conjured her being
Ο
Did she exist once?
Dancing while the flowers bloomed
The wiccans think so

Beautiful haiku that shows the Easter spirit, Vashti. I celebrate Easter and try to attend Church on that Sunday and possibly a tea party that is often held. Are the prompt words for the haiku posted days ahead or Fridays?

These are lovely Vashti … You’re getting to be quite an expert at Haiku 😊 Easter for me is a time to reflect and be thankful. May be an Easter Hunt this year 🐇

Great haiku. Not sure what I’ll do this year for Easter as I probably won’t be at home…

Great haiku! I never considered what Easter means for Wiccans. Thank you for enlightening me 🙂

Hi Marigold! I was reading on the origins of Easter when I ran across this bit of information. It surprised me at first, but then I thought, most wiccans believe in “Mother Nature” and that’s basically who Ēoestre was.

Nice haiku Vashti,
I don’t attend church, but will probably do my on thing and maybe spend a bit of time reflecting on our egg hunts in the hay meadow as children.

Thank you Sunni. Oh yes, I do remember those egg hunts as a child. Hay meadow sounds fun. 😀

I love it, Vashti. You’re the first person who has mentioned Easter to me, and it’s only weeks away.
On Easter Sunday I spend it with some of the family and we celebrate with a roast dinner (usually Turkey). Then, if we still have space, we eat Easter Eggs. I always have a boiled egg for breakfast on Easter morning, and draw a little face on it before cracking open its head.

I’m so happy you loved the haiku! 😀 I’d love to be at your house Easter Sunday––sounds lovely. A turkey is a great idea. I love roasted turkey, yet, I only make it on Thanksgiving Day. I don’t know why. I love Cadbury’s chocolate, cream-filled Easter eggs. Yum! 😛

Easter has both religious and family overtones for me. Easter eggs, bunnies, Christ, and Ham Dinner get together..

It’s the same with me. Time to be with my family. We usually spend the entire day together. A prayer, a lovely meal, and then chocolate bunnies and cream-filled eggs. 😉

Easter for me…
Since it is a Sunday, that means I will be working and cleaning the house. But I will reflect upon the good things in my life and the importance of this day.

I love your positive attitude. It is important to put all commercial things aside and reflect on the real meaning of this day. 🙂
