Haiku Friday – Want & Tatters

24 Apr

Hi everyone! Welcome to Haiku Friday! I hope everyone is having a great day so far. If not . . . don’t worry about it––the weekend is around the corner. 😉

Today’s prompt words are provided by RonovanWrites Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge and they are Want and Tatters. My haiku today was inspired by my WIP and 2nd installment of my  Fantasy Angels Series, Dracul.

Ha, ha! Yes, lots of sexual tension. 😉 You and I had a similar temptation. Mine was key lime pie. 😀 xx

Powerful stuff, Vashti. As I was travelling today, I always feel the temptation to change plans and just take the first plane out, see where I end up. I haven’t done it yet…

Thank you Olga! Wow! We really do think alike. I have fantasized about doing something like that myself.

The construction of this haiku is pretty amazing … and I had to read it over and over again to understand the lying meaning of each verse.
I interpreted this little poem using the feminist’s perspective. Haha!

    I love this!

Please tell me your interpretation! Don’t leave me hanging––my curiosity is killing me! 😀 ???

I, as a feminist, interpreted this poem as something that sides to the rights of women — to handle her own body, to wish pleasure whenever she wants and to evade maltreatment and sexual assaults.

On second reading, even without the photos, I can visualize a prostitute, announcing to everybody, something like “Who cares? I am a tattered being, but this is my body, not yours!”

On third reading, I realized that the woman being depicted is Eve, and her sin is one of the reasons why men keep on degrading women. The men would say, “You, women, are the first sinners! You tempted us!” But the attitude should not be like that. 🙂

Wow! That’s really deep. The people who say that Eve was the first sinner are wrong in my opinion. After all, wasn’t it Satan who tempted her in the first place? In my mind that makes him the original sinner. Some men will look for any excuse to try to control women and they’ll bend the truth to their convenience, but I believe that those men are only a fraction. Not all men are bad or controlling, and not all women are innocent in their intentions. Everyone, men and women, young and old, regardless of color, race or religion should be treated with respect and consideration, and as an individual––unique. Those are my believes as a feminist. 😉

What tempts me now? Poor Eve wasn’t as naïve as she’d like you to think. She loves glittery snake walking on 2 legs who promises her she’ll be as smart as God. After all this time why would she fall for that. Perhaps wisdom tempts me too.

I think the words already spoke volumes but the pictures truly add some dimension. No matter the temptation, it’s always a slippery slope depending on how much willpower one has. I’ll stay in line with the others 😉 and admit, I usually cave for chocolate anything.

Thank you very much! Wow! Who knew food, especially sweets, had so much power over us. Chocolate is almost everyone’s weakness. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I can trust someone who doesn’t like chocolate. I would definitely have to prick them with something to make sure their blood is red like the rest of us. Ha, ha! Sorry ‘weird’ moment. 😉

My temptation, which I gave in to, was a big ole cider in the middle of the day. It seemed so refreshing, and it was, but made me sleepy, so I indulged further by going home for a nap and woke up with a slight hangover. Needless to say, I don’t drink alcohol often!
Love the Haiku and especially the heavenly embrace image. Xx

Ah, ha, ha, ha! If you get a hangover from cider you don’t drink at all! I’m not a big drinker either but I don’t think cider would have that effect on me. 😉 Then again, maybe the cider I’m referring to isn’t the cider you’re talking about?
Thank you so much! That’s an awesome illustration. 😀 xx

A tattered being, oh what a thought, I wonder what he or she would look like? I love the images you use by the way, where do you find them? As for my last big temptation well that’s my secret, I like keeping them!

He looks beautiful and enticing in a frazzled, rugged sort of way. Thank you. I search the internet for the images I use and some are mine. Ugh! Now I’m curious.
