Haiku Friday – Love & Last

RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge

Hello! Welcome to my blog! I have to admit that when I read the prompt words for this week’s Haiku Friday, Love and Last, I was in a weird sort of mood. Once in a while, I get in a goofy, laugh at everything, I want to play and joke around mood, and that’s the kind of mood I was in when I wrote this week’s haiku. I was also starving after hours of writing and I wanted to celebrate because the writing went well. So I celebrated with––you guessed it––food.

Do you believe in true love? Are you in love?

Do you enjoy leftovers? What are your favorite leftover foods?

Brilliant – makes me laff! Wonderful take on this week’s words.

I’ve said quite a lot about love recently it seems: https://daffodilwild.wordpress.com/2015/03/07/what-would-love-do/

Now let’s see, left overs – I love the remains of an Indian Take-away next morning, for breakfast and to pick away at Christmas Dinner for days afterwards – yep, they are my favourites.

Hi! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Hmmm. It seems to me like someone’s been bitten by the love bug. 😉
I love indian food but I don’t get it often. Perhaps because we have so few Indian restaurants where I live. When we do get it, we never have any leftovers. 😦 I do the same with our ‘Thanksgiving’ dinner leftovers. 😛

Yep – turkey and all the trimmings infused with the sparkle of celebration – nothing better!

True love does exist, Vashti. I found it many, many years ago and I’ve kept real tight of it since then. I dare not open my hands incase it flutters off and leaves me for good.

Leftovers are a real treat. We have Bubble & Squeak quite a lot. Have you heard of it?

Awww. That’s so sweet and romantic, Hugh. I’m sure he’s holding on just as tightly. You’re quite the catch. 😀
No, you must tell me what Bubble & Squeak are. 😛

You say the nicest things about me, Vashti. Thank you 🙂 ❤

Bubble and Squeak is made form all the left over potatoes and vegetables from a roast dinner. You mix them all together and then mash them up with a potato masher, before frying it gently until it is hot and slightly crispy on the outside. I enjoy eating my Bubble and Squeak with lots of HP Brown sauce.

That’s a great idea, Hugh. I never know what to do with the leftover potatoes and veggies after a roast. I’m going to try this next time. Thank you! Bubble and Squeak it is! 😀

Yes, yes, yes!!! I love leftover soups, lasagna, casseroles…the flavour is enhanced by the flavours mingling that much longer. Sadly, they are rare in our house of seven 🙂
Your Haikus are excellent! That Kate Hudson, frickin funny!

I love how the photos complement the haikus so well!! And the haikus – one made me laugha and the other made me cry. The second one reminded me of my maternal grandmother who passed away last year – she would be the brightest star for us 🙂

Awww. That’s so sweet. I too lost my maternal grandma and I loved her very much. I bet they’re both together up there shinning brightly. I’m glad you enjoyed the haiku, photo, and gifs. 🙂 xx

Cold Indian food leftovers the next morning for a slobby breakfast straight from the takeaway foil tins – it’s just my best. Okay I’m getting it now, I’m getting it!

Vashti, even this light-hearted foodie Haiku made me think seriously.

Leftovers initially are part of a very different recipe. When many such leftovers combine to form a new tasting meal, it brings forth goodness of all these put together, both in taste as well as nutrition.
I sometimes use leftovers to make a quick quiche`, pies, baked layered rice and Indian stuffed bread called parantha or stuffed chappati.

    I’ll write a full article on leftovers…:)

You’re such a thinker, Alka. I like that. I believe you’re absolutely right. I’ve done similar things with my leftovers. I’ve made ‘croquetas’ and ’empanadas’ with leftover turkey after Thanksgiving Day. 🙂

I loved your leftover Haiku, brilliant! I love food but funnily enough, not so keen on leftovers, unless it is roast beef or something!

A charming haiku, Vashti. I’m all for leftovers — anything that means one less time i have to cook and clean up. The second one is just lovely. Oh, and the GIFs were so funny! Hugs. 🙂
