I occasionally get those too, but I quickly brush them off. I understand that you can’t please everyone, so it’s best to make yourself happy and hope that many others have your same taste. 😉

Quotes that make you stop and think for sure. I have one that I say “Maximize your life…and still have fun!” It’s a positive way of doing what’s needed but still enjoying every day.

The Erica Jong quote really got me, Vashti. I am working on my first book, and I have thought about the judgment that will come after my book is written. I swallow hard every time I think about it… then, I push the thought away. Two great quotes this week, my friend. Great thoughts! Well done! ❤

Hello Colleen! Thank you! Yes, the thought of people judging your work is terrifying but it’s part of the writing process. I don’t mind constructive criticism but there are also malicious people out there that will take pleasure in attacking your work for no reason. They’re called trolls and they’re not fun. It is what it is and there’s nothing you could do about it. So happy writing and may the muse be with you! 😀

We all have a fear of rejection. As humans we there is need to be accepted by others and loved. As we get older we realise that it is impossible to please everyone. The most important thing is to be true to yourself.

Well said, Yolanda. It’s scary to put your work out there, but we have to be brave and do it, no matter what anyone says. Of course, that’s easier said than done. 😉 And it is of the utmost importance to be true to oneself first.

So true about people that are just out to attack others. For some odd reason, some believe that the anonymity of the internet was put there for them to ridicule everything. Strange way to pump up an ego.
I have always tried to be a problem solver…not a problem pointer outer. Lord knows we encounter enough complainers in our day to day life.

Oh yes, those sad little trolls are out there. Some people say, ‘Oh you learn from the good critiques as well as the bad.’ I agree, but when someone leaves a ‘critique’ anonymously and vaguely attacking your book, writing, post . . . without leaving any reasons for the dislike, it’s not helpful and it wasn’t coming from a good place.

Very true! At least a critic understands the art form they are critiquing. You never just see a review and it says…It sucked! They break down why they did not like it.
Going on a site like YouTube amazes me. Most people are civil but a few troglodytes will post something inane on a video of someone playing guitar or a family trip. Why??

Great quotes and very true. Yes, it´s impossible to please everybody and ultimately, the only person we truly have to live, whether we like it or not, is ourselves. So if we can remain true to ourselves…

Hi Vashti, both quotes perfect, yes, I’m always afraid of what the others will think about my work, I’m trying to let it go, but it’s not easy. And I like the gloves on the first photo, gorgeous!

We should always be true to ourselves and not worry so much about what others think. You won’t please everyone, as someone already mentioned. The older you get, the more you realize this. A certain amount of criticism comes with the job of writing.
