Haiku Friday – Lock & Gab

19 Jun

Hello and welcome to Haiku Friday! Today’s prompt words are Lock and Gab via RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Prompt Challenge. Visit Ron’s blog, RonovanWrites, and join in the fun! I had a hard time with the prompt words this week. I tried to write a slightly humorous haiku this week. Let me know what you think.

Babble, Jabber, Blab

Unfastened the lock

Let yourself into my heart

Gabbed your way back out

“The road to hell is paved with gossip.”

Gossip

“Words! What power they hold. Once they have rooted in your psyche, it is difficult to escape them. Words can shape the future of a child and destroy the existence of an adult.
Words are powerful. Be careful how you use them because once you have pronounced them, you cannot remove the scar they leave behind.”

oh yea! the power of words. Like a harsh whip or like the sweet caress of a lover. The choice is yours to choose how you use them.

Well said, Serins. Well chosen words can be so encouraging but the wrong ones can be heart-wrenching and damaging.

Funny haiku and so true. And good warning. These days when everything gets everywhere, more needed than ever.

Thank you Olga! Oh, so true! With the world wide web people can spread gossip so much easier and faster than before. Words can cause major damage.

Such wisdom. I think people often underestimate the power of words, and how difficult it is to take them back. I love the haiku; humour with a bite to it 😀

Lies or truth, gossip can be so hurtful. I mentioned ending a relationship a few posts back because of lying. Gossip was another bad habit of this person.

Your Haiku, this entire post, is a great message.

Hi Melissa! Thank you. Some people talk and talk without the slightest thought to how their words affect others or what repercussions they will have on someone’s life. And you know what’s sad but funny? These people are usually the most sensitive when the words are directed toward them. I’m so happy you enjoyed the post. 😀 ❤

No, not at all! Ha, ha! I enjoy our chats. I just haven’t been able to go on Google+ in a while. And I didn’t have a lap top for 2 weeks! That was torture, but thankfully that’s resolved now. I missed our chats. 🙂 xx

Your Haiku was the perfect amount of humor. Words can do damage or good. I prefer the the latter but sometimes say things that I feel are true but maybe should not be said. jmt

Hello! Thank you. I’m happy the haiku had just the right amount of humor. 🙂 I can relate . . . I do the same thing sometimes. I only realize I shouldn’t have said it after seeing the person’s facial expression, then it’s oops––too much truth. 😦 I guess I have to learn when to keep the truth to myself. It’s difficult though.

I think the wrong kind of truth comes out when one gets into a heated discussion that goes sideways. Those get off track and out of control. Ooops!

I was given an idea by my partner. It is a writing challenge using the alphabet. You start out with a short phrase that begins with the letter “A” and finish off the sentence . The next sentence begins with “B” and then “C” and so on. Try to write a story of whatever you wish. Try to make it to the end of the alphabet but if not to where you are able to end it. Now I just had a thought as I was writing this down for you. What if you wrote it as a poem? I wonder if it would work. I am going to give it a go both ways and see what happens. Just something fun. Do it if it intrigues you. If you do it, let me know. Same here.

Have a great day & night. Here at present it is later in the afternoon & cloudy out. Not sure if the sky is saying rain or not.

I am in a writing mood. Have been working on a children’s book my partner & I are working on. Now time to get to other projects. Lots to do. 😀

I think you’re absolutely right about the heated conversations. Although, I’m the type of person who prefers hearing the truth even if it’s gut-wrenching and sometimes I forget that not everyone feels the same way.

Wow, that is quite a challenge! Please let me know if you do it. I’d love to see what you come up with. It does sound difficult though. At least for it does.

That’s great that you and your partner are working on a children’s book together. That must be so much fun. You have a great day too and happy writing! 😀 xx

You are right, the ‘A’ to ‘Z’ may be more difficult than I thought at first. I may try to do it myself each week, if not just for my own writing exercise.

Do you think saying the truth & hearing the truth can be healthy for a relationship? I know I have moments of anger where I am set off & what I have been holding back comes pouring out. It is the truth but it upsets probably more than the person I am saying it to. Usually my partner. She doesn’t mean to put sometimes she knows just what triggers me. I don’t deal well with being triggered. I do believe in Truth & Honesty. I think I mentioned before, I hate being lied to. That drives me crazy.

Hope you are having a great day. I started the creative part of my day doing the Haiku Challenge. I completed it but I am going to wait until early on Monday to Post it. Already posted two things today.

Next, I want to watch the film “Gone Girl.” I’ve seen it before and even wrote a film review for Expats Post. It went over well. Now I just want to watch for my own enjoyment.

        Thanks for listening. Ciao! 😀

Hi! I think it is healthy to be honest and truthful in a relationship but I’ve learned that sometimes being too honest can be hurtful. So basically we have to think before we speak even if what we want to say is the truth. 🙂

I love participating in RonovanWrites haiku challenge too. I usually post my haiku on Fridays (Haiku Friday). I’ll check out what you posted.

I’ve never seen the movie Gone Girl but I have heard that it’s good. I’ll try to watch it sometime soon.

Have a wonderful day! 😀 xx

I need to learn to hold back sometimes. My partner needs to do the same. We both can’t seem to stop saying those triggering words. We know each other so well. The past mistakes get tangled in what is happening now.

I love your idea of Haiku Friday. Mine, I guess, is Haiku Tuesday Write Day. Technically, I write sometime Monday or late at night Tuesday.

Gone Girl is one wacky film. It is a thriller till the end. The story is bizarre and a convoluted mystery. Exciting. Ben Affleck is good. Rosamund Pike is the actress who plays Ben’s wife. You will be wide-eyed when you hear her story. The movie will throw you every which direction. Recommend highly if this is your taste in films. Oscar worthy.

Hope you are having a great day & evening. Watching TV. “Proof” is on the schedule. It is about the experiencing of life after death experience. The first episode last week was really amazing.

        Night now! 😀 xox

Aww. Thank you so much! It wasn’t easy though. For whatever reason, I don’t find haiku poetry easy to write. I love coming up with them, writing them is fun, but not easy. I’m so happy you enjoyed it––it makes writing them worthwhile. 😉 xx
