      Thank you! I remember seeing bees very often as a child. Now it’s rare when I see one––even at the park! It’s scary because this quote makes a lot of sense to me. 🙂

        Yes that’s true, we see so many other flying bugs, flies, wasps but not so many bees. Bees are precious. 🙂

        Yes, you’re right! The mosquitos are out of hand in some areas too. Now, why couldn’t there be a shortage in those? And cockroaches . . . I wouldn’t miss those. 😉

        Yesterday I found a spider crawling across my bed, ugh! Who knows how often he visits while I’m sleeping!

        Ahhhhh! 😮 That would keep me awake for many nights. Ha, ha. Although I’m afraid of spiders I tend to tolerate them since they get rid of worse pests such as roaches, flies, and mosquitos.

      Hi Mark! Thank you. I agree. Many people don’t want to address the situation or think about it because of selfishness. They’re making a good living with one of the many things damaging the earth and so they refuse to stop and think about the future of our planet. We’re living in a world filled with greedy egomaniacs. Sad.

        People are strange. I wrote a blog post about bees once. People were surprised to hear that bees are in trouble!

    I’m so glad you wrote this, Vashti! I really don’t think the world has a clue what will happen if they disappear! Instead of futures starting, they would be ending.A lovely haiku and a serious warning.

      Hello Wendy! I’m glad you liked the haiku. Too many people hear the warnings and ignore them. Maybe they feel overwhelmed not knowing what to do or they don’t that they don’t have time to deal with the problem. Well, if we don’t do our part things will end badly. There are little things that everyone can do to help. 🙂

    A sensible Haiku. The below site says if bees go extinct, it might lead to “mass starvation on an unprecedented and unacceptable scale”. Some plants would be influenced more than others. The consequences would be grave nevertheless.

      Hello Alka, I wish more people would take this situation seriously. I believe all of nature is connected somehow and when a species dies off it affects all other species in a domino effect. We should all take cue from my friend Hugh who plants ‘bee loving vegetation’ in his garden, and we should also do our own investigation on pesticides and their effect on our ecological system. 🙂 Thanks for the link.

        That’s all true Vashti! The current generation should take it seriously and leave this planet a better, not worse, place for the future generations. ‘Bee loving vegetation’…now that’s a great idea. And yes, using less chemicals is a way to go at a personal as well as universal level.

    I’m pleased to say that we plant ‘bee loving plants’ every year in our garden and we do see lots of them. Probably not as many as I saw when I was a child but garden centres here in the UK do encourage us to buy and put these plants in our gardens.

      Thank you Hugh! That’s a brilliant idea! I’m going to do some research on ‘bee loving plants’ and plant some in my front and back yards. I’ll encourage others to do the same here in the USA, since I have friends and family all over. Thanks for the inspiration! ❤ xx

    Wonderful haiku with such a deep message that everyone needs to read and consider. My babies and I studied bees a few weeks ago; if there is ever something to love and worship it should be bees. Bees are interesting, smart, and helpful to man. Man’s best friend. 🙂

      Thank you very much! Like my friend Caleb said, ‘Bees are the teddy bears of the insect world’. A few years ago I visited the Butchart Gardens in Canada. Gorgeous place––fell in love with it––must see! But one of the things I was most fascinated with was all the fuzzy, chunky bumble bees I saw all around the garden. 😀 ❤

    It is one of the most important issues of nature. So glad to see it becoming more public. Apparently there are many beehives now on rooftops in Paris. You often see bees in the actual pastry cabinets in the Parisian cake shops too! Great and timely haiku! 🙂

      Thank you! I guess we should figure out what is attracting these bees to Paris. I know what attracts me to Paris, but that’s a different story. Well, maybe not so different since the bees are in the cake shops. He, he.
      Seriously, we need to figure out what’s killing them and how to help them thrive. You’re right, it is one of the most important issues of nature today.

    Don’t worry, I have a couple of bushes in my garden much loved by bees. There are always hundreds of them buzzing all over them 🙂

      Thank you! Oh that’s wonderful Christine! It does make me happy to know there are so many bees buzzing in your garden. I wish more people would do the same. I’ve seen a few buzzing around my mango trees but I’m doing some landscaping research and soon I’ll have bees and butterflies all over my yard (hopefully). 😀 xx
