Writer’s Quote Wednesday

sun quote

I’ve done a great deal of research on successful writers and people in general trying to figure out some kind of formula for success. What I found surprised me at first, but then, the more I thought about it the more it made sense. As I read about these people and studied their rise to fame and fortune I noticed a few similarities between them. I believe that what they shared in common is the key to their success.

Now, do I want fame and fortune? Do I want to rub elbows with celebrities and have my own reality TV show? I’d take the fortune, I mean, who wouldn’t want to have enough money to make a difference in their life and the lives of their loved ones? Do I want fame? Not so much, although, I would like my writing to be known and enjoyed all over the world. Am I being contradictory? Anyway, back to the secret of success. 😉

It isn’t a secret, not really. All you have to do is observe the people that have become successful despite terrible odds. What do they all have in common?

My observations, research, and study have led me to this conclusion. If you want to be successful you must have a positive attitude, confidence in your abilities, and most importantly you must have perseverance.

Of course this is all easier said then done. Sadly, many people will try to discourage you, there will be many bumps on the road to success. You will encounter many defeats but like Maya Angelou said, ‘we must not be defeated’.

I liked the inspirational history part. Can you imagine the seething jealousy of someone who didn’t sign The Beatles?

Ha, ha! How knowledgeable could that record company have been to know so little about music and talent? Duh! THE BEATLES!!

Vashti, Your secret to success is amazing and true. I was always told to work hard and never give up. I am a student in life and writing and I have no intention of giving up… yet anyway! LOL! The infographic at the end of your post is spot on! WOW! Perseverance pays! Thanks for Maya Angelou’s guidance – always a winner in my book! ❤

I love Maya Angelou, and she has quite a history herself. We can say she came a long way. I admire her. Hard work is very important too. Especially for a writer today. Gone are the days when writing a good book was enough. ❤ xx

    Excellent post!

Everyone wishes for easy times. It is the human thing to do. However, every great movie or story involves someone overcoming an obstacle. A two hour movie about a man sipping tea and ordering things from a butler would be boring.

I am working on ensuring my autobiography is interesting.

Oh I like that, Steve! ‘I am working on ensuring my autobiography is interesting.’ Great line! So can we expect a memoir in a few years? 😉
