“I like to play around with my nightmares. Whenever I have a bad dream – something strange and unnerving – I write it down, sometimes in the middle of the night when everyone around me is sleeping soundly, and then I come back to it the next morning and see what I can make of it.” ~Carla H. Krueger

A short story based on a Daydream I had . . .
A short story based on a Nightmare I had . . .

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books (I adore the Mad Hatter actually!) and I love all the diverging artwork and odd angles people have taken with it over the years…so imagine my joy with you images here!
I also loved your quotes, two great ones! Good job, I really enjoyed it.

I think there really are no limits when it comes to dreams and imagination. These two quotes are definitely from two people that understand that.

You’re right. What appeals to me about these two states of mind is the eerie and quirky logic. The way you think and react in dreamland is so different from reality and it appeals to me. 😉

Vashti,
I love this post. I keep a dream journal and write things in it in the middle of the night. It does make good fodder for stories later. Most of my dreams are way out there and not at all like everyday life. I’ve kept journals for decades. Reading back over that stuff gives me lots of ideas.

We have a lot in common, Sunni. I do something very similar. The weirder and quirkier the dream/nightmare the better the story that’s inspired by it. It’s a great idea to write all that you remember as soon as possible. The memory one has of dreams is so ephemeral. ❤

Yes! Your dreams and daydreams can take you anywhere. Like Sunni, I keep a notebook handy to write down loose thoughts and memories of dreams as soon as I wake up. Unfortunately, sometimes I don’t have the time and I have forgotten the thought by the time I’ve dealt with the immediate tasks. The same happens when I am out an about during the day. I’d love to have a notebook which would pick up my thoughts telepathically, and jot them down for my later use.

Oh! That’s an awesome idea, Lance. I’m sure as writers we can all use such a device. In the meantime, I use my iPhone Notes app or recorder. 😉

Two fantastic quotes and I love the images too. Must go and check the stories in case I’ve missed them before. Ah, I love Lance’s idea of a notebook that can record telepathically our thoughts… Perhaps it would be too dangerous though.

Hi Olga! Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the quotes and images. I loved Lance’s idea too. I think maybe the Japanese already invented such a device. That’s the only way I can explain some of the eerie and bizarre anime I’ve seen. 😉 I love them because of that.

Edifying quotes here, vashti. All things in life are actuated by dreams, as without it, as the poet says, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly..

Thank you very much, Raj! I thought it might be the other way round, dreams are caused by life. 😉

Great quotes and fantastic artwork too. Love Alice in Wonderland, fantasy, and dreaming, as for nightmares I try to avoid those! I’m a bit of a scaredy. 🙂

Thank you Marje! I love fantasy and dreaming too. Unfortunately, I don’t think we could avoid nightmares . . . or could we?

No sometimes they creep in without us intending them too! But, I very rarely have nightmares, mostly I just have wacky dreams which is ok!

The Gaiman quote really spoke to me Vashti. It’s so true, and really separates those that are creative, inquisitive thinkers from the ‘have nots’.

I’m so happy it did, Doreen. You’re a very creative person, so I can see why. I believe it’s true too. 😉 xx
