Happy Wednesday everyone! Welcome to my blog. Colleen Chesebro is a writer, poet, and book reviewer. Today I want to talk a little bit about ambition. Some people view ambition as a bad thing, while others consider it a more positive thing. I believe ambition could be both good and bad. I see ambition as the food that helps us grow as writers, artists, doctors, lawyers, teachers . . . If we eat the right kinds of food, in the right amounts our bodies become healthy and strong. If we eat too much food, especially unhealthy foods, we gain weight and potentially become morbidly obese, and become sick and eventually die of a heart-attack (okay––maybe a bit dramatic), but overeating is definitely a bad thing. If we do not consume the proper amounts of food our bodies require for the energy it expends, we starve.
It’s the same with ambition. A healthy dose of ambition can help us reach our goals and grow in whatever field we’re in. A lack of ambition will keep us stagnant, never moving forward, never achieving our goals––stuck.

So lets work hard, become determined, eager to achieve our goals and lets motivate each other to do the same. Lets be ambitious!
Great pic, Vashti. I hear you about ambition. Yes, in moderation is good. Otherwise it can become all consuming.

Now you know I had to go back and look at the quotes again😊 at first glance the first one was my fave–it speaks about persistence but I am also favouring the last one because it identifies passion as a starting point.

I feel I am motivated and inspired but not necessarily ambitious 😊

You may be ambitious and not realize it because ambition is simply a strong desire to achieve something with determination and hard work. 😉

Hi Vashti, I especially like the first quote. I can relate absolutely. It has been a reoccurring theme in my life. Right now I could use a bit of ambition – my persistence is right on. Thanks for sharing the uplifting quotes. Best wishes, Darlene

Hello Darlene! I believe we have a great deal in common in this area. The first quote is my favorite also for pretty much the same reasons you mentioned. Thank you! Have a great day and rest of the week. 😀 xx

Hi Judy! I’m glad you agree. There are too many writers that lack ambition. I know it isn’t easy to be a writer nowadays but we need to persevere. The photo was at Barnes & Noble Bookstore mid last year. Thank you! 😀

Well done, Vashti. I so agree with you. We need that ambition to keep striving to become better at whatever our craft is. Your post is full of inspiration! Thanks for that. ❤

Can I say all three of these quotes are my favorite, or is that cheating? ;).
Each quite drives home a point we should all be able to understand and relate to. Ambition without persistence, intelligence without ambition, and the thought that passion does indeed fuel ambitions are all so very true. There are many, many intelligent people in this world, but if they’re are not ambitious and persistent, we may never hear of them and their talents may go undiscovered.

Ambition is attractive, especially when paired with intelligence. The last quote is my fave. And that’s a great pic of you Vashti. Xx

Hi Melissa! I think a combination of all three quotes would be perfect. Each quote makes a great point. Thank you for the compliment! 😀 xx

I don’t think I would consider myself to be a competitive or ambitious person but writing makes me want to improve, and reach my goals, so perhaps now I’ve found that creativity is worth striving for!

And that’s ambition, my friend. It’s great. It’s what makes you strive. Ambition doesn’t equal competition. Ambition: A strong desire to do or achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. 😉

Oh yes! Great post Vashti. I think it’s like anything in life – finding the balance. I like how you compared it to food and being healthy (being that I am certified in fitness and nutrition). Have you ever heard of that saying, “A vision without a task is just a dream, but a task without a vision is drudgery?” I think this totally goes with your topic, don’t you?
