Haiku Friday – Year & New

1 Jan

Happy New Year !!

I hope everyone had a great New Year’s Eve. My family and I spent NYE on Miami Beach and watched fireworks over the ocean just before counting down to midnight. It was wonderful. Life is made of memories; we should make many sweet, exciting, loving memories in 2016 and in all the years to come, because in the end it is all we’ll have.

Ronovan from Ronovan Writes provided this week’s prompt words, Year and New. I love these words. Ron wanted us to try doing opposite meanings in our haiku this week. It was a challenge but I think I got it, if not I certainly had fun trying.

Ronovan is a writer and poet and he also does author interviews and much more. You can read some of his poetry and fiction pieces on his blog. He also hosts RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge every Monday. Anyone can participate. Check out his Haiku Prompt Challenge Guidelines for more information.

Hello Elizabeth! Thank you very much. I do miss the white Christmases of my childhood in New York. I do love it in Florida though. I’m sure it is beautiful where you are. The snow makes the landscape look so clean and beautiful. All the best! 😀 xx

I’m so happy you enjoyed the post, Greg. I did have a great time. My niece Vanessa and her husband were down from Japan, so that made the holiday season even more fun. 🙂

    Happy New a Year Vashti!

We are finally settled in Naples, and are just now experiencing decent internet after several days without. :(. I’m trying to play ‘catch up’.

Your New Years sounds like it was wonderful. The weather was unusually warm, even for Florida, so it must have been perfect to be on the beach and see fireworks.

May 2916 be everything you hope for and more.

Hi Doreen! I’m glad you’re settled in. Don’t worry, I think most of us are playing catch-up. I had my niece down from Japan with her husband after not seeing her for 2 years. That and many other things made this holiday season wonderful. Yes, it’s been mostly in the 80s in south Florida. NYE was a perfect night for the beach and fireworks.
Thank you for the kind wishes. All the best to you and your loved ones!😙💕
