It’s Haiku Friday! I hope everyone is enjoying their day. Today’s prompt words were provided by RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge and they are Trill and Final. These words conjured up images of horror and the paranormal for some reason, so I went with it.
Ronovan hosts this challenge every Monday and you have until Sunday to create a post featuring your haiku poem. He is a writer and poet and he also does author interviews and much more on his blog. Very poignant haiku Vashti reflecting on the horrors that were orphanages around the world historically, even up to today in some places. Certainly in Australia we have our horror history and this has been exposed to the public during a Royal Commission into child abuse.

Thank you Denis. I’m glad the problem was exposed. I recently read an article on orphanages on the Washington Post that inspired the haiku to some extent.
You’re right, it is a worldwide issue and there are problems even today.

There is a story in the book “Singularity” by Helena Hann-Basquiat and her co-conspirators which I was reminded of while reading this haiku. Well done.

Takes me back to my years as a court appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children. The adoptions, foster care, and the kids that age out the system because nobody wanted to adopt teens….

I think the whole adoption/foster system is wrong. I believe a real overhaul is needed.

With proper financial support, educational standards for caregivers, and more authority for judges to really make decisions that are in the child’s best interest.

Great topic. Hate orphanages. Not especially sure about the newer systems either. Children should be treated better. Children, animals, women & difference are the worse treated beings on the planet. But it starts when we are children, the nightmare. Inspired writing. xjk

I’m not a fan of how orphanages have been run in the past. There’s got to be a better system to keep track of what is happening with these kids. It’s such a complicated situation. It does all start with the kids. I’m glad you liked the topic. Thank you! ❤

Always interested in the outlook and treatment of children and those who can’t manage it for themselves. That includes especially animals.

Mr. King suggests another book about writing that I intend to read next. Can’t remember the name now and don’t have the book by my side. Really enjoying reading about his history and roots. You would really enjoy Maine. I hope you make it some day soon.
