Writer’s Quote Wednesday – Short Stories

It’s the middle of the week and that means it’s time for Writer’s Quote Wednesday. Welcome, everyone! I love short stories. I enjoy writing them and reading them as well. I have written several short stories for this blog, although it has been a little over a year since I wrote the last one. That’s because I’ve been so busy working on my Fantasy Angels Series and what little free time I have left after working on my series I use to work on my blog posts, social media, and blogging.

I haven’t had the time to write short stories in a while and that makes me sad because I love doing it. Anyway, I have gotten several new followers since I posted my last short story, so I decided to post the links to some of these stories. That way, those of you that have not read them can check them out, if you like.

    Thanks for the links, Vashti. I haven’t written a short story for a while either but yes, they are very good to keep the brain ticking and to hone one’s skills. I’m always impressed by people who excel at flash fiction, but it’s a bit too short for me.

      You’re welcome. I hope you enjoy. I wrote ‘A Time to Mourn and a Time to Dance’ and ‘The Cursed Tree’ in a similar language to the one I’m using in my Fantasy Angels Series. I did it to give readers an idea of what it would be like to read the series.
      I prefer the long short story myself. To write and to read. That being said, it does take a unique set of skills to hook a reader and come to a satisfactory conclusion with so little words.

    That quote from Andre Bubus is excellent. It’s so true. Life is made up of many short stories. We go through and live them all.

      That is a good one. That part tickled me also. Andre Dubus blew my mind with this quote. He’s absolutely right, but I had never thought of it that way. Now that’s the only way I could think of it. 🙂

    Good to remember to keep it short to begin with. I was planning a global research venture! No wonder I didn’t get started!

    I’d have to agree with the quotes… starting with short stories helps ease you into how a tale should be told, and what works, before you start the epic.

    Great bunch of quotes about short stories Vashti, have to agree with George R. R. Martin, I made a major error diving straight in and writing a novel wish I had written some short stories first !! They are a great way to learn the art of story telling 🙂
