Great haiku vashti! Even with diamond /sapphire eyes, she was left wanting…that was never going to end well!

That’s right! She craved knowledge and she got it. No more bliss.

The lusciousness of the smooth flesh tempting. The eyes fixated on the fruit filled with an unknown sweetness beckoning her will to break. Give in – she’s knows she wants to break the words against her actions. Paradise Lost – for sure the title fitting perfectly the situation.
Perfectly written words in your Haiku. So descriptive. Why, though, she can’t resist, should such a huge deal be made from her broken will? So we discover knowledge. It feels so rigged by a tyrannical government. One mistake and you’re tossed out of the sweetest home. Not fair.
Well done. 🙂

Thank you! You know, you almost took on the personality of my character ‘Lilith’ in that second paragraph. A lot of her sentiments are in there. I love your interpretations of my haiku. They are always right on. 😉 ❤

Gorgeous use of the words. I’ve been thinking a fair bit about Milton’s Paradise Lost…

The combination of rhapsody and sapphire eyes startled me, also the indirect connection with Lilith. In my first novel, Kings of Infinite Space, there is a character called the Dancer whose name Bas’Lillene derived from Bast, Lilith and Helen. Here is one description of her:
It was a song without words, a melancholy melody that arrested him, devoured him. It brought tears to his dragon-eyes, tears which damped the raging fire in his heart. Merian completely forgotten, Witternig drifted across the vale to find the voice that filled him with such longing. He had never needed anything as much as he needed to find the source of that song. He had not known that such beauty was possible.
He found her, even as her song ended. She stood between Aslin, whose left arm was bandaged, and Ghenya, whose soot-blackened face was streaked with tears. She was a short woman with short black hair and blue eyes that matched the sapphires she wore at her ears. Her metallic trousers shimmered and her orange silk tunic seemed impossibly to catch the sunlight.
Without knowing how, he knew her. ‘Dancer,’ he greeted her.

Lovely excerpt. I could see why you were taken aback. Your Bas’Lillene and my Lilith should definitely meet. 😉

Very deep haiku Vashti, before scrolling to the book cover I imagined someone stepping back from breaking a strict diet!!!!! you can certainly turn your back on a tub of ice cream for an apple if it counts. Sorry!!

Lovely! I just love how you own words. It seems flawless. I think there would be a mountain of wadded up paper balls with words that just wont connect for me. Wonderful work, Vashti.
XOXO

Aww. You would be surprised what you can do when you sit down and try. I’ve always loved haiku poetry but I was very intimidated by it. I couldn’t imagine saying so much with such few words. One day, I decided to try it and I’ve been hooked ever since. I was terrible at first, but little by little I’ve improved and can still improve more. Thank you for the sweet comment. I appreciate you. 😀 ❤ xx
