Very topical and sparkling. Thanks, Vashti! (I think the issue of poor visibility for non-white actors is true indeed.)

I wrote a response with my iPhone and it didn’t go through (?). Don’t know what happened there. Anyway, there’s a lot of controversy right know about the lack of diversity in Hollywood. I believe there should be a change starting with casting directors. If there aren’t enough people of color acting in good movies there will be no one for the ‘Academy’ to nominate. I don’t know about you, but as much as I love Gerard Butler I believe actor Idris Elba would have been better suited for the role of ‘Set’ in the movie Gods of Egypt. I think actor Rami Malek cleans up well and could have played the part of Bek, but that’s just me.
Thank you! ❤

Haha, yes, great. The Oscars. I’m wondering how Sylvester Stallone felt not winning. He was the one that was most suspected that would.
Happy weekend to you Vashti.

I watched the ‘Fashion Police’ on E! and I was laughing so hard at Tim Gunn’s reaction to these dresses! He’s very old fashion, it was hilarious. He had a lot to say and none of it good, “Too much skin!” 😀

I admit, I saw the prompts and immediately went to Kevin Bacon, which is kind of related to the Oscars! Didn’t write that poem though… too easy. Good direction here, I never would have taken it.

Thank you! Kevin Bacon? Ooh! You’re thinking of the movie ‘Footloose’! Ha, ha. I figured that out as I was typing this reply . . . sorry. I don’t think it would have been a bad choice but I loved the haiku you came up with––very original. 🙂

Great haiku Vashti, the second one especially sums up the Oscars priorities. (or the media circus at the Oscars).Meanwhile in the USA Donald Trump cruises to Republican nomination???

Thank you Denis! You’re right, the Oscars has become more about fashion and who’s wearing what than the actual movies.
The political race has become a circus and I don’t want to be sucked in. I’m honestly afraid for this country.

Nice, love it. Flashing skin has become a “basic” which I regret as it has become “second” to raw talent.

Great work! There was plenty of plunging necklines at The Oscars. 🙂 I DVR’ed The Oscars but it must have gone over the time allotted, so I missed Leo win. 😒 I thought Chris Rock did a pretty good job, Stacey Dash on set was SO awkward. 😁

Thank you! That’s why I hate recording the Oscars, it always goes long. Chris Rock was phenomenal, he handled the ‘elephant in the room’, the lack of diversity, #OscarsSoWhite situation really well. YES! I didn’t understand the Stacy Dash thing. What was that about? It was painful to watch. 😀 xx

It was painful to see Stacey Dash up on stage…
I mean, to each his own, but I just don’t understand her.

A spot on description of the Oscars Red Carpet. I have to admit I watched it this year. It was better than usual b/c they actually asked women more than about who they were wearing. Refreshing. I do love what they wear but I want to hear more. Great approach to the words. Original.
I, also, wanted to tell you I am not going to stop doing R’s Haiku. Need to organize my life. First step is to get back to my own writing, which includes my own ideas regarding poetry and prose. I need to work on my prose. Recently, I started a new writing project I feel quite excited about. It helps pull me out of myself. It will be fun. I use Scrivener, so I get to set up my book in any order I choose. Working on Outline as well as character development. I have one main location but there will be different ones for each future story.
My partner suggested to me that I might want to put together a poetry book, maybe more than one.
I still want to keep in touch. Checking out what you are writing, etc. I will still be doing my blog. It centers me and it is a way to experiment and share special things I find and words I write I feel I want to share.
So, there it is. Lots of organizing to do. I hope I can pull it together the way I want it to be. xox jen

Hi Jen! I’m happy you enjoyed the post. I’m sure Ronovan will understand. The bottom line is to do what you feel comfortable doing and what makes you happy. Sometimes we just can’t do it all.
I wish you lots of success getting organize and with your book. I will definitely stay in touch and visit your blog. Happy writing! 😀 xx
