We have a great theme this week: UNITY chosen by Ronovan.

This has been and continues to be a tough election year here in the USA. I don’t remember ever seeing such animosity between americans due to politics. This country is called the ‘United States of America’ and right now there seems to be no unity amongst the people of this country. America is a country made up of a diverse group of people that form a complex whole. We can be united without necessarily agreeing on everything. We can be united without being cookie cutter copies of each other. We can be individuals with different opinions, beliefs and appearances. As long as we respect one another and show empathy, understanding and consideration toward each other we can be united. A country united is a strong country. I feel that the world is laughing at us right now because of our petty squabbles with one another. They’ve figured it out and are probably wondering why we’re stuck on stupid.

If I offended anyone by speaking my mind, it wasn’t my intention.

“What I’m not confused about is the world needing much more love, no hate, no prejudice, no bigotry and more unity, peace and understanding. Period.”

~Stevie Wonder

“I think family is key, and if you have love for family, then you have love for others – and you have unity as a people.”

~Marlon Wayans

“I think my best skill in this whole deal is as a conduit to try to bring people together, because I think it’s in our unity that we’ll have the greatest strength.”

~Woody Harrelson

“We all dream dreams of unity, of purity; we all dream that there’s an authoritative voice out there that will explain things, including ourselves. “

~Junot Diaz

I love the quotes and agree with everything you said except “They’ve figured it out”. I think we (Americans) are more divided than ever before and there is more hatred, but I don’t know if the world is doing a whole lot better. On the other hand, I do think a lot of them are either laughing at our election or are shaking in fear over it…. (By shaking in fear I don’t mine ISIS, I mean civilized people)

Maybe you’re right––not everyone has figured it out. I guess living in the US and hearing of our constant battles makes it feel that way. I also agree that there are plenty of folks shaking with fear over this election. It’s a sad time for Americans.

Sometimes I think Canada is the only country that has it even remotely together… I agree, it is a sad time for our country, but then, I’m an optimist (sometimes) and say there is no where to go except up! Well, of course, unless xxxxx gets elected (sorry, I couldn’t resist 😉 )

Ha, ha! Canada does look tempting right about now. I’m trying to be optimistic and have faith in my fellow americans too. Hopefully that means xxxxx will not be elected. 😉 xx

I’m sure some people will be offended. Oh well. I’m not going to muzzle myself in order to make everyone happy because even if you’re sweet as candy there will always be people who don’t like sweets. You can’t please everyone––ever, so why censor myself? As far as, who is xxxxx . . . I don’t want to start a political debate on my blog, so I rather keep that to myself. 😉

LOL. You made me LOL in the office. Vashti, you almost sounded very African there like my friend the President (FK). I admire your boldness

I’m in Spain in the moment and after two general elections there’s no government because nobody gets the majority and the candidates can’t agree. So it could be third time unlucky. It reminds me of Einstein’s definition of insanity ‘doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’ Indeed. No, I don’t think many places have it figured out. And I just signed a petition to ask the Canadian government to invest more on health…

I guess many countries have not figured it out yet. It just seems that way because every time I turn on the T.V. or radio it’s all about Americans at each other’s throats over politics. I can’t wait until we’re over this election. We’ll have to deal with whoever ends up in the presidential seat and pray we’ll be alright.

As a non-American, I have to say that Trump comes across here as a rather scary hate figure, fostering division for his own ends… I know there’s little love for Clinton either. Where is the hope? I know Obama over-promised and under-delivered, but there seems to be little for the electorate to get excited about… hence perhaps the focus on the negative, because that’s all there is to talk about. “More love” is ALWAYS the answer! 🙂

I agree, let there be love! You’re also right about our candidates––not much hope there. Who knows, maybe the elected one will surprise us––in a good way. 😮 Every president is going to over promise, because they think they’re going in with all this power when actually it’s the senate, lobbyists, billionaires, NSA . . . who have most of the power in this country. Presidents are fronts (puppets). Most of them go into office thinking they’re going to fix things––make a difference, then they realize the truth a little too late. Or maybe I’m just cray-cray. Ha, ha! 😉

    Vashti,

I totally agree with you. I’m sure other countries in the world are laughing at us. I’m very sick of the politics business. No one knows how this will end but I just hope whoever gets in there is the right person to put us back on the right track. Of course we may be beyond that. Who knows.

I think most of us are praying for the same. I have hope that we are not beyond help and that all will end well. We have to hope for the best. 🙂

Vashti, I loved your thoughts! This was my favorite quote: “I think family is key, and if you have love for family, then you have love for others – and you have unity as a people.” Isn’t that true? I actually performed an experiment. I have a friend who is in an opposing party. We started talking about what we thought and believed in and she was amazed when I agreed with some of her thoughts. I reminded her that just because we supported different candidates didn’t mean that we didn’t have common ground. She was shocked. That is the problem with labels, they make you think a certain way about people without really knowing them. A deadly way to view the world. Hugs to you my friend. ❤

Thank you! I truly believe in that quote. I agree, if people talk in a calm way with empathy and an open mind they would learn so much from one another. Hugs&Kisses ❤

I’m not offended at all. I totally agree with you. We are better united. At this point it feels like we’re tearing our own country a part, and that’s scary.
Thank you for using your platform, love!
