Haiku Friday – Gold & Sing

2 Dec

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to my blog!

GOLD and SING are this week’s prompt words chosen by Ronovan Hester of Ronovan Writes.

Ron hosts a challenge that anyone could participate in called Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge every Monday, and you have until Sunday to create a post featuring your haiku poem. He is an author and poet and also does author interviews and much more on his blog. Be sure to check it out. Read Ron’s Haiku Prompt Challenge Guidelines for more information.

“You can cage the singer but not the song.”

She sings with the wind

Melodies of gilded love

That unlocks my heart

Awaiting twilight

The bird sings of golden stars

. . . and dreams of freedom

A gilded cage’s still a cage

––but singing makes it feel free

Enjoy the weekend!

LOVE “…but singing makes it feel free” exactly how I felt when I was a professional singer.

You amaze me Annette! So you were a songstress? I’ve dedicated the haiku and tanka to all the lovely singers I know. I’d love to hear you sing. ❤ xx

Beautiful images and poems. And true sentiment as well. Have a great weekend, Vashti.

Love both of these, Vashti… That second one in particular really spoke to me. Sang to me? ❤

The second one tugs at my heart with a pinch of yin/yang emotions. Wonderfully written, Vashti. ❤

Wow Vashti. This quite a post–all of it building to your amazing tanka at the end…that one is really something to ponder.

I’ve always felt that singing has a healing effect on people. So I tell people to sing out loud, whether you are a good singer or you can’t carry a tune to save your life. I’m not the best singer but I love to sing––in the shower, kitchen, backyard while wetting the grass . . . it makes me happy. I’m so glad the tanka made you reflect on things and that you enjoyed the post. Thank you! 🙂

Music has been a major part of my life too. Less now than in the past but I agree — singing is for everybody and feels so good.

Lovely vashti! Singing makes it feel free…as does dancing! Both beautiful creative expressions :).

Beautiful Vashti. Singing while in the gilded cage makes one feel free. Perfect. I believe it would, even if not forever.
