A warm word of welcome to everyone today.  Thank you for visiting my blog.  Sit back and enjoy today’s post.

How Will The World End?

We’ve all heard and read many theories of how the world will end. This is a subject that I’ve thought about from time to time (somber, I know). I have my own theory of how the world will end, but before I get to that I’d like to first mention other worldwide theories.

There are scientists who have theories such as the explosion of the moon, a giant meteor collision, or a misbehaving sun violently releasing a sudden blaze of fire our way. Some add an extremist in power, drunk with supremacy, who releases nuclear weapons causing World War III and the end of the world.

Solar Flare

Solar Flare

Moon explodes and collides with the Earth

Moon explodes and collides with the Earth

Nuclear bombs released worldwide

Nuclear bombs released worldwide

A number of experts say the world will end in an inferno, while others believe in a new ice age. I don’t buy it.

The World Freezes Over

The World Freezes Over

The World On Fire

The World On Fire

The truth is there are seven billion of us now inhabiting every breathing space on this planet, even the most remote corners of the world that were once thought uninhabitable. The human species is like a virus.

virus

VIRUS

A virus is a tiny parasite. One that’s not too bright because it kills its host, and then it too dies as a consequence. Mankind, like a virus, has infected this planet. We will continue to multiply, invade and destroy the earth until there is nothing left, and then we too will perish. Not too bright.

However, this is where my theory comes in…wait for it, this is going to be good. Microscopic species, such as viruses, bacteria and fungi have been around long before us, and will never allow the human species to destroy the planet. No matter what doomsday scenario we concoct, there is nothing we’ve yet conceived of that can kill every bacteria, virus and fungus on earth. So how do I believe the world will end?

Actually I believe the world will go on, but the human race, as we know it, will cease to exist. Perhaps the final stanza of the famous poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot will give you a hint about my theory.

This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends

Not with a bang but a whimper.

You see, I don’t believe the end of our world will come from an earth-killing asteroid, a nuclear war or a solar flare. I believe the smallest and oldest species on the planet will do us in.

Rabies Virus

Rabies Virus

Viruses and bacteria continue to mutate and become stronger. Every time a person gets infected by bacteria and does not finish their course of antibiotics, those bacteria become stronger and more adapted to the antibiotic. Soon, they will become resistant to treatment. A “Super Bug.”

A Zombie Apocalypse sounds far fetched, but is it? Don’t get me wrong, I know dead humans can’t come back to life, but there are certain viruses that can induce such aggressive, maniacal, zombie-like behavior. The rabies virus comes to mind.

Rabies in Latin means madness. Any warm-blooded mammal can become infected with the rabies virus, including humans. The virus has been adapted to grow in our cells. Rabies infects the central nervous system of its host and can drive a person violently mad.

Violently Crazy

Violently Crazy

When the influenza virus was first introduced it spread like wildfire, infecting five hundred million people across the world and killing five percent of the world’s population. This happened because the virus was airborne.

Imagine for a minute what would happen if the rabies virus were to mutate and become a “Super Bug.” I’ll give you a minute.

The rabies virus would invade our living cells and cause genetic mutation, and if the infection became airborne, it would spread quickly through the air from one person to another. We then might have the makings of a Zombie Apocalypse.

Zombie Apocalypse

Zombie Apocalypse

Humans would cease to possess the qualities, which we have determined make us human. People would scurry about – hostile, foaming at the mouth, taking chunks off their neighbors with their teeth.

Okay, calm down. I’m not a scientist. I’ve probably seen 28 Days Later and I Am Legend more times than is advisable. Besides, doesn’t it take eons for a virus to mutate so drastically? So we probably won’t see anything like this happening in our lifetime or that of our loved ones.

Unless…

There are rumors that our government is trying to create a biological armament. They are experimenting with viruses and genetic mutation (not too bright). Perhaps the geniuses messing around with Mother Nature’s most lethal weapons will bring about the Zombie Apocalypse a lot sooner than nature intended.

Mad Science

Mad Science

So how will the world end? Not with a bang, but with the whimper of a man being bit in the neck by a zombie.

How do you think the world will end?

(For those of you still not acquainted with my humor; the above post is purely fictional and solely for entertainment. It should not be taken seriously. Lol! This post is hysterical, Vashti, and you’ve a great sense of humour – you show that not every blog has to be serious and earnest!

I think we like to romanticize it but it will probably be us abusing the planet’s resources and bringing forth our own demise. Or zombie apocalypse which is equally likely.

^^ yes. But I disagree. The human will never disappear ,if anything they would be force to fleed the planet and look for a new home and their a lot of blue planet not far away only couple generation to get there.^^ virus. I don’t think so so.ething humans are good at doing is survive. And is not the bacteria getting stronger is us getting sronger. Rabies sounds good but not at the level of a apocalypse.the military would contain anything quickly. Zombie apocalypse wont last a month. The real monster is the military and I love it ^^ cheers

Hello Audrey! Made you think, huh. Ha,ha! We as humans are survivors, no doubt about that, but we are also destructive. We’re damaging the planet and using up all our resources at an alarming speed. So I’d say NASA better get to work on at least 7 starfleet ships, preferably of the Ambassador class like the USS Enterprise to transport us to one of those blue planets you mentioned. 😉

Bacteria and their microbial cousins were the earliest forms of life on earth. This is according to Microbe World https://www.microbeworld.org
Also according to Microbe World some bacteria can live in temps above the boiling point and in cold that would freeze your blood. There’s a species of bacteria that can withstand blasts of radiation 1,000 times greater than would kill a human being. They also eat everything from sugar and starch to sunlight, sulfur and iron! Talk about survivors! 😮

NASA better work on alternate places for humans to live, because you’re right, we’re abusing our environment and it’s just a matter of time before we start killing each other for basics like water (at least that’s what Mel Gibson said). As for me, I’m not going to any other planet unless it has chocolate, Jimmy Choos and Sex and the City reruns.

They may be already doing something like that Doreen. That’s probably what those super telescopes are for and who knows what new forms of transportation they’re working on. Of course, this information is above our pay grade. Ha,ha! Well, I suggest you start hoarding seeds to grow cacao trees and Jimmy Choo shoes. Don’t bother with Sex and The City CDs because the technology will probably be different. Oh and by the way I wouldn’t put much stock in what Mel Gibson says (between you and me). 😉

I am confused. You ask how will the world end? But you mostly talk about how humans will disappear from earth. How will the world end for us?. I personally think, one of these days we are going to create a super-intelligent something that will get rid of us and live from solar energy.

Hi Alex! Yes, how will what we perceive as our world will end. Some people think the earth will get so hot from the core outward that it will explode and others think we will all turn into something else (not human) either way it would be the end of the world as we know it. I love your sci-fi concept though. 😉

Personally, I think we’ll just get bored like Forrest Gump on his epic cross country run and we’ll stop, turn around and run back the other way.

As a nurse, I am beginning to see an alarming rise in the idea and discussion of peak efficacy of antibiotics. Scientists are reporting that bacteria that would previously have been destroyed by antibiotics are now resilient and resistent to them. It is quite a frightening reality that many of the illnesses that we were able to treated easily are now becoming much harder to treat. The rise of superbugs like MRSA and VRE are a huge challenge to health services globally.

Translation – we’re all gonna die and be forced to watch Happy Days re-runs…

    I don’t know why I said that.

Having loved 28 Weeks Later (it was on a whole other level to 28 Days Later), the concept of a virus of that magnitude is both fascinating and frightening. I saw a news item the other night about chlamidia (? On the spelling) and how that is leading to large scale infertility. I was reminded of yet another amazing film “Children of Men” where the premise of large scale infertility puts the entire human race on the endangered species list. Again, it is a concept that is both fascinating and frightening. It’s good to connect with you.

The 16th century French prophet Nostradamus described a 27 year war between the nations of Islam and Christianity (probably 2001-2028) in which events gradually escalate in stages until WWIII. Nostradamus’ version of WWIII involves an invasion of Europe when America is too busy to intervene – maybe with events in Asia? Or just social unrest from economic collapse at home?

If you take prophecies of such things as WWIII/Armageddon seriously:

And after WWIII, both Bible prophecy and Nostradamus describe a POLE SHIFT that will effectively end our present world and its civilization, and usher in another cycle.
