Haiku Friday – Wonder & Spy

14 Apr

Wonder and Spy are this week’s prompt words chosen by Ronovan Hester of Ronovan Writes.

Ron hosts a challenge that anyone could participate in called Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge every Monday, and you have until Sunday to create a post featuring your haiku poem. He is an author and poet and also does author interviews and much more on his blog. Be sure to check it out. Read Ron’s Haiku Prompt Challenge Guidelines for more information.

When fallen angels

drop to earth, their wings torn off

How do they evolve?

Childlike wonder turn to fright

When revealed they’re doomed to night

UPDATE: Right now I’m doing the finishing touches to my book, The Fall of Lilith. I’m working on the blurb for the back of the book, dedication page and a few other things. I have the illustration for the book cover, which is something I’m very excited about. I’m planning a post featuring the illustrator’s work, along with a book cover reveal. My goal is to release the book before summer.

A Happy Good Friday to everyone!

A very haunting poem! You really convey the shock and sadness when the truth is found out by the fallen angel. Your book sounds intriguing…

Blessings to you and have a wonderful Easter, though I know a holiday is harder when we’ve lost loved ones. Saying a prayer for comfort for you as it hasn’t been that long.

    Hugs! xo

Fallen angels are a sad lot. “Childhood wonder turned to fright.” The image shows the painful darkness in their story.

Sad and sobering thought.. how, indeed? Vashti, you encompass so much emotion in so few words, and also succeed in drawing us deeper into the power of the story you are weaving. I agree with Gayl, your book sounds inviting and intriguing! You always leave the reader wanting to know what happened next.
May the gift of God’s peace soothe you this Easter as you remember recent sorrows anew and have hope for future days. May His comfort help heal your heart. Thinking of you. Blessings, hugs and prayers. xo ❤

Glad to hear you’re getting close to release. Looking forward to it. 🙂

(As an aside: Reading jaye22’s comment above, my instinct was very much, “No, no, it’s ‘champing’, not ‘chomping’,” but apparently both spellings work and are in common usage.)

Hello Frank! Ha, ha! I think you must have been a school teacher in some life because your attention to detail is astonishing sometimes. I’m ecstatic to read that you’re looking forward to my book. Thank you. That means a lot. 😀 xx
