How is Silk Made? | Today I Found Out – Feed Your Brain

Silkworm

♦

Give up your secrets

and end up like the silkworm

vanished in a tie

♦

Build your silky room

Choose your sheath to boil

or grow flightless wings

♦

♦

Next time you feel like you have it bad, think of the poor silkworm.

    Ya well, there’s that, eh? Gee whiz, just when you think there’s not another thing out there to boycott… Aw, having fun here, but seriously I love the analogy of our lives to that of the silk worm. Well played! Well played!

      It’s very interesting but so sad. I still don’t quite understand why they don’t eat. Ironically, people actually eat them. Ugh!

    Well, I’ve been enlightened about the life of silkworms. How awful! I guess they know no other existence, so maybe don’t know how bad things are for them. That’s a blessing.

      Hello Teagan. No, we shouldn’t liken ourselves to worms. That certainly isn’t the point here. Happiness is so much about how we think. If we thought more about the things we are blessed with, instead of constantly wanting more of what we don’t have, we would live much happier lives. These worms don’t have that choice––we do.         My wife spent 2 weeks at a textiles/dyeing workshop in the mountains NW of Tokyo 2 years ago and the farmhouse had a Silkworm factory in the ceiling so I found out all the horrible details when she returned.
