Spooky and Night are this week’s prompt words chosen by Ronovan Hester of Ronovan Writes.

Ron hosts a challenge that anyone could participate in called Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge every Monday, and you have until Sunday to create a post featuring your haiku poem. He is an author and poet and also does author interviews and much more on his blog. Be sure to check it out. Read Ron’s Haiku Prompt Challenge Guidelines for more information.

“I like to write in a shroud of secrecy because I have to keep finding ways to scare myself.”

2 Line Horror Story:

I awoke in the middle of the night to hysterical laughter. I live alone.

When the day grows short

and spooky night chills our bones

We’ll tremble ’til dawn

Icy fingers touch their prey

Screaming campers run away

I like your two line horror story:) I don’t think I would camp at a cemetery, although, I do make a trip through on Halloween…

I did it once to grant a friend’s birthday wish. It was very creepy. To top it off, there was a wicked fog that night. It was okay during the day, but at night it was an entirely different story. Thank you! 😀 xx

Love the German proverb. Our minds have a tendency to magnify fears. Scary tanka. Silly campers. Ha ha!

I loved the Tanka, amazing what lengths people will go to scare themselves.

Great story and poem, Vashti. I took a picture of the same sculpture (I imagine there might be a number around), the one of death in a cemetery in Barcelona. Have a great weekend!

Thank you, Olga! I’d like to collect pictures of these incredible cemetery statues. There are some real works of art out there. 😀 xx

Oh my … I scared the cats when I blurted out… HAAAAA! I would be one of those silly campers, which of course means, I would NOT be one of those silly campers. You have a way with the horror, so I leave it in your capable hands.

These are wonderful, Vashti. Fond of camping as I am, your ‘Icy fingers’ brought back memories both terrifying and hysterical 🙂 ♥

A joyful set of interpretations for Halloween Vashti, I think you had fun working on this post. Back in my teen years a friend and i were doing a road trip on the cheap and yes we did camp in a cemetery one night, in his car. It was very cheap.

Ha, ha! I did the whole camping thing years ago while in college. It was a friend’s birthday and it’s what he wanted. It was a freaky night and none of us slept a wink. I never did it again. Kids do crazy things . . . Ha, ha!
