Haiku Friday – Obsession & You

Haiku_Friday-roses-Poetry-Vashti Q-The Writer Next Door-Vashti Quiroz Vega-RonovanWrites-haiku

Love Obsession

You are one white rose

In a field of red roses

I only see you

I create a mist

That only envelops you

The sun clears the haze

I reach out for you

But your thorns are long and sharp

Still I grab ahold

A thorn pierces through my heart

I perish wearing a smile

Obsession and You are this week’s prompt words chosen by Ronovan Hester of Ronovan Writes.

Ron hosts a challenge that anyone could participate in called Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge every Monday, and you have until Sunday to create a post featuring your haiku poem. He is an author and poet and also does author interviews and much more on his blog. Be sure to check it out. Read Ron’s Haiku Prompt Challenge Guidelines for more information.

I wanted to share the cover art for my WIP, Son of the Serpent, the 2nd installment of my Fantasy Angels Series

*This is not the book cover. It is the artwork that will be on the cover.

Powerful writing, Vashti. The last line captures the dynamic beautifully. And the image is very intriguing. It’s amazing what we see in a mirror reflection, right? Have a wonderful weekend. ♥

Thank you, Gwen! I wanted to convey the feeling of being obsessed instead of using the word.
Sometimes we see what we want to see and other times we see what we think others see. I don’t know which is worse. Ha, ha! You have a wonderful weekend too! ❤ xx

I thought it was interesting. Like we never know what we look like under certain circumstances.

Hi Denise! That’s great to know. I think the most important function of the cover is to draw the readers in to check out the book.😘 I’m happy you enjoyed the poem! Have a wonderful weekend!😊

Hi Robbie! I can’t complain about that. 😉 I’m happy the cover art is impactful. It needs to draw in readers. The illustration reveals much about the main character, Dracúl. Thank you! ❤

Beautiful Haikus Vashti, and love the cover work for your newest book. I am loving The Fall of Lilith and almost finished. I’m savoring the final chapters. 🙂 Right now I”m trying to figure out this will be Satan’s son? ❤

Hi Debby! I’m happy you like the poems and the cover art. I’m also thrilled that you’re enjoying the book. In the 2nd installment, ‘Son of the Serpent’ the main character will be Lilith’s son Dracúl, which is also Satan’s son. It’s Dracúl’s story, but there’ll also be other characters from ‘The Fall of Lilith’ in this book. Also, Dracúl is a complex character and quite unexpected. 😉 ❤ xx

Well of course I’m hooked now and must read! In fact, I’m almost finished the book and already got a good idea of Dracul’s potential! I’ll be writing a review later in the week and be featuring it on my Sunday book review on May20th ❤

Perfect poetic words for an irresistible, all-consuming love that one would die for. The rose symbolism and the image speak of the dangers of such obsession. Glad that I came to visit. It’s been awhile. Hope you’re having a wonderful day, Vashti. ❤
