Poetry Friday ~ Meaning & Passion

15 Feb

Hi, everyone! Welcome to my blog.

I’m back in my writing cave working on the 3rd installment of my Fantasy Angels Series. For me, writing the 1st draft is the most difficult part of the writing process, but it’s equally exciting. The process of creating a new plot, new worlds, and fleshing out new characters is exhilarating but can also be overwhelming at times. That being said, I am passionate about writing and don’t know what my life would be like if I didn’t write stories and books.

I’ve done all the research I needed to do for now and have written a loose outline of the story. Now I’ve begun to write it. Of course, once my characters take over, my outline will be thrown to the wind and things will probably go quite differently from what I had originally planned, and that’s okay with me.

During this time I tend to be in my head a great deal, so I’d like to apologize to my husband and family in advance.

♥♥♥

Meaning and Passion are this week’s prompt words chosen by Colleen Chesebro ~ The Fairy Whisperer.

*The catch is that we can only use the synonyms to these words in our poems.

Colleen hosts a challenge that anyone could participate in called, Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge every Tuesday, and you have until Sunday to create a post featuring your Haiku, Tanka, Haibun, Etheree or Cinquain poem. She is an author and poet, and also does book reviews and so much more on her blog. Be sure to check it out.

Our love made no sense

But your kiss was medicine

Now you own my heart

Your warmth was what I needed

Your lips deserve my kisses

Happy belated Valentine’s Day, Vashti! I liked the poetry in answer to Colleen’s challenge.

And I fully understand about loose outlines and characters taking over. I started book 3 of my current series with a loose outline—actually more detailed than usual for me—but it all went up in the air once I started writing, LOL.

    Happy writing!

Hi Mae! Thank you. I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day. It happens to me every time, so I expect it now – even look forward to it. Ha, ha. 😉

I hope your Valentine’s Day was memorable, my friend. As for the plot outline I begin with, it has no chance of surviving the character mutiny when my muse goes into steroid driven hyperdrive. Your poem is a perfect selection for this celebration.🌹❤️️

What a beautiful Valentine poem Vashti! Isn’t it amazing how the book’s characters can ruin an outline? I always love when the characters take over though:) Happy writing and have a wonderful weekend

Thank you❣️I’m so happy you enjoyed the Tanka. I only write an outline because I need structure in the beginning but I don’t even pretend things will go my way. 😘 You have a great weekend too!

Beautiful poem, Vashti! “For me, writing the 1st draft is the most difficult part of the writing process, but it’s equally exciting.” I feel exactly the same…and yes, I do a lot of apologizing myself! Have a great weekend! ❤

The first draft is my favorite part. I love creating the bits and pieces that bring an idea together.

It is a wonderfully creative process but also very challenging. It’s quite satisfying once it’s done.😊

Vashti, you’re right. That first draft is the hardest for me, too. Actually, I love the editing part because I’ve got everything down and can tweak words, meanings… You wrote the perfect
VD Tanka. Happy weekend, my friend. ❤

I enjoy the self edits too for the same reasons you stated. The way I see it, the first draft is the line drawing and the self edits the shading and coloring. Thank you! I’m thrilled that you enjoyed the Tanka.

I’ve had a few of my characters “rewrite” my outline. Their versions were better than mine, so I allowed them the freedom to do so. 😉

Isn’t funny how their version is always better? I love that moment when they take over. Thank you, Yvette❣️

That’s wonderful, Jan❣️ Thank you. I’m enjoying myself although the process is challenging at times. Like Ernest Hemingway said, “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” 😘
