 I mentioned my trip to New York City in my previous post, so I thought I’d share a few pictures this week. Although I enjoyed my visit to NYC, the huge crowds, hurried pace, peculiar smells, and loudness was not for me. At first, it was exciting but after about six days I was over it. Like the saying goes, NYC is a great place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there. Of course, millions (8.623 million (2017)) of people live there and love it and that includes my sister Kathy––to each his own.

I would definitely visit again because there are so many amazing things to see and do. If you’ve never been I do recommend you go at least once. You won’t be disappointed.

St Patrick’s Cathedral seemed incongruous in the midst of the surrounding modern skyscrapers. I was mesmerized by this palatial church’s architecture and luxurious adornments.

We saw King Kong on Broadway and we loved it! I was so impressed with the puppeteers. They controlled every facial gesture and movement the giant ape made and they almost disappeared into the shadows on the stage as they did so, except in times when they wanted you to see them––it was fascinating.

Another thrilling part of my trip was visiting the New York Public Library. What an iconic building! The literary treasures they must have stashed away in there. There were special areas where the public could not enter, so of course, my imagination went crazy wondering what literary masterpieces must be hidden from the masses.

    Great poem and thanks for sharing, Vashti. I’ve been to New York a few times, but always for short visits, and I guess it didn’t get overwhelming, but I know what you mean. King Kong looks wonderful and libraries… Irresistible! Have a great weekend!

    Love all your pictures, Vashti. King Kong looks amazing. It’s a dream of mine to see a show on Broadway. I think my small town stroll wouldn’t go over well with New Yorkers, either along with the full time manners…lol. Have a great weekend and week:)

    I’ve seen photos of the church before, but I didn’t realize it was snuggled between skyscrapers. Thanks for sharing your poem and photos!

      Hi, Priscilla! I was very impressed with the cathedral’s pristine condition. There isn’t a scratch on a pew or anything. They really keep it up and I’m sure there are many wealthy people that make donations to it. It’s an amazing place. The pictures really don’t do it justice. Enjoy your weekend! 😀 xo

    Loved the poem, Vashti! Thanks so much for sharing these great images. I don’t think I’d ever find enough time to explore the library. I have to wonder about those inaccessible areas. Eeek … shades of Dan Brown.

    What a fabulous post, Vashti. The cathedral is amazing and I also love libraries. When we visited Canterbury Cathedral in 2016 we saw a second addition book of Shakespeare’s play. So awesome. I can’t share to FB any more. So annoying.

    Your poem made me laugh. When we walk in Philadelphia, I always have to slow down for my husband (whose legs are twice as long as mine). 🙂

      It was a wonderful trip. It isn’t that I can’t walk fast, it’s that I choose to take my time. As I stroll I’m observing everything around me and taking it all in. People, architecture, trees, flowers, birds . . . it all goes into the “Author Box” in my brain for future reference. What’s the point of visiting a new city if you’re going to rush by everything? 😉 xo

        I do the same thing, but I just walk quickly–stopping when I see something I want to focus on. My husband walks slowly, but I’m still pointing out things to him! 🙂

    Wonderful photos! I have to admit I am sometimes one of those impatient locals when I’m in midtown…but in my own neighborhood (far uptown) I ramble as well. Stay out of the way of those in suits! (K)

      King Kong is an amazing show. I was so curious to see how they were going to put a giant gorilla on stage. They did a great job and at times King Kong seemed real. Yes! It was a different world once you went into the library.

    I love your cinquain, Vashti. You tell a great story in so few words. The photos are fabulous. I’m a city girl so I wouldn’t mind the fast pace of NYC. But when I visit cities like NYC, I’m okay to do lot of things during the day, but not being able to stay late for night life anymore. Well, my dream is to go The Met to see the Metropolitan Opera, even though they do live broadcast and HD in the theaters here in southern CA. Seeing it live at NYC would be at least once in a life time experience for me.

        Yes, Vashti. We had such a wonderful time and so much fun. She had me read her favorite book for more than 10 times. We listened to “Wee Sing” and she danced along the music… ❤ ❤
