Poetry Friday ~ Give & Shake

13 Dec

Give and Shake are this week’s prompt words chosen by Colleen Chesebro ~ The Fairy Whisperer.

*The catch is that we can only use the synonyms to these words in our poems.

Colleen hosts a challenge that anyone could participate in called, Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge every Tuesday, and you have until Sunday to create a post featuring your Haiku, Tanka, Haibun, Etheree or Cinquain poem. She is an author and poet, and also does book reviews and so much more on her blog. Be sure to check it out.

The

planet

is dying

Man has planted

seeds of pollution

The world breaks and quivers

as the sun’s flames cease to burn

You’ll welcome Hell’s raging fires

when days turn to nights and our bones freeze

And December will be the cruelest month

Have a great Friday the 13th!

Hi, Jacquie! It’s been a great holiday season so far––no bad days. But the situation with global warming is only getting worse. This is just a reminder of what could happen if we continue to ignore the issue. πŸ˜‰

Kind of grim, but our environmental outlook is too.

That’s the point, Craig. There aren’t enough people taking global warming seriously. Sometimes you have to jolt people with the truth. πŸ™‚

Ha, ha. I guess. Of course, I don’t want this to happen either. We need to do something about global warming before it gets to this. ❀ xo

This is rather a sad outlook, Vashti. I hope we can stop it before this.

I hope we can stop this from happening also, Robbie. It’s a sad but realistic outlook because too many continue to turn a blind eye on global warming.

It is sad, but we’re definitely headed this way. As long as greedy corporations run the world, the Earth will suffer. 😐

I can relate, Karen. I grew up in NYC and now live in Florida. I feel the same. I believe we have a real issue with global warming, and people need to be jolted with the truth about it from time to time. πŸ™‚
