Poetry Friday ~ The Circle of Life

31 Jan

Hi, everyone! Welcome.

It’s the fourth week of the month which means Colleen from, Colleen’s 2020 Weekly Poetry Challenge will pick a theme for us to write about for this month. On the Monday before the next challenge, she’ll select someone to choose next month’s theme.

This month’s theme is:

“The Circle of Life”

Today I’m trying a new style of poetry called Gogyōka. It is a new form of a short poem that is based on the ancient Japanese Tanka and Kodai kayo. Gogyōhka has five lines but exceptionally may have four or six. Each line should be the duration of a single breath.

From the earth
we came
and to the earth
we return

Into flowers
we shall bloom
our fragrance
shall float

in the air
and travel the world

Thank you for stopping by! Have a lovely day.

A lovely poem, Vashti, although I would still rather remain a human than become a flower.

Hi, Olga❣️Thank you. I love the idea that each line of a Gogyohka is the length of a breath. Happy weekend to you too!😊

What I love most about any kind of poetry is that you can express SO much in such few words. This is brilliant, Vashti!

It is so touching, Vashti. We all have a beginning and ending, hopefully somewhere in between, we blossom and spread the fragrance. Well done, my friend!

I just noticed that I’m included in your Hall of Fame. I like the photo you have on Colleen.

Thank you, Vashti. I’m working on a project at this moment. I wrote many children’s stories 15 years ago. I just started revising one and I’m looking for an illustrator. I found one I like, but it’s a whole new business in illustration. I want to learn more before hiring one.
I’ll take breaks in between to do fun things such as making a sideshow. 🙂

It’s always smart to do your research first, so you’re doing good. Google Upwork you can look through many different artists. It’s exciting that you found those stories. I hope everything works out for you.

Yes, I almost forgot those stories. The artists from fiverr are from all over the world. I also found some linked from KPD. It could be more expensive if they’re from the US.

The artists from Upwork are from all over the world too. When you post a job, you can put a fixed price that you’re willing to pay, and artists that are willing to work for that price will bid for the job. You’re in control at all times. 🙂

Oh good. I’ll look into it tonight. I’m taking care of my after school business right now and go to a chorale rehearsal in the afternoon. Thank you for the info. I’ll ask you if I can’t find the site.
        🤗😊
