Colleen’s 2020 Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 174 Photo Prompt
Hello! I hope everyone is safe, healthy and having a fabulous day so far.
THE GOOD WITCH
Once upon a time they used to burn us
Because in our gaze there is a snare
And we dance beneath the glitter
of a starry night, singing
We float with subtle grace
over Mother Earth
drawing circles
in the air
to end
plagues
I hope you enjoyed my Etheree. When I saw the prompt picture I immediately thought of a witch. The kind that knows what to do with herbs outside the kitchen. ;D
A quick update: The 3rd installment of my Fantasy Angels Series is still with my editor (she works on several manuscripts at a time). I can’t wait to get it back. In the meantime, I’ve had an idea for a crime thriller gnawing at my brain for quite some time, so I’ve started on that. I’ve written a loose outline, some character arcs and began my first draft a couple of days ago. I’m excited about it so I’m writing as much as possible while the juices are flowing.
Your poem made me think about how when people don’t understand something, they fearfully lash out or try to control it. I’m looking forward to the third book:) Let me know if you want help with the release!

That’s exactly right, Denise. Fear makes people do the most horendous things. Aww. That makes me so excited to put it out there already. I would love your help with the release. It’ll probably be late summer. Thank you! 😀 ❤

Your poem in response to the photo prompt is perfect! I think all of us who practice holistic medicine and perform rituals are Descendents of those misunderstood “witches” of old. 🙂 How exciting to have started a new project. There is nothing like the excitement!! Whoo Hoo!

That’s exactly right, Jan! What people considered peculiar and frightening then is embraced by so many now. Thank you!
It is very exciting. Although, when I get my manuscript back from my editor I’ll have to stop writing and focus on editing, but that’s okay. Yay! ❤

A crime thriller could be a lot of fun. I need to write a short story for a project I was invited to, but mine will be more detective than thrills.

I love thrillers, especially crime thrillers so this is a long time coming. Mine is about a serial killer in NYC. It involves the 19th Precinct in the Upper East Side and the FBI. My main character is an FBI agent. So again, I’m going to have to do a lot of research for this one. I’ve scheduled an interview with an FBI agent (a friend of a friend), and I have a questionnaire ready for him. He, he.

Very cool. You might get hooked and stay in that genre.

I’m sure I’ll bounce between fantasy, horror, and thriller which are my favorite genres to write and read. My short novel ‘Memoir of a Mad Woman’ is a psychological thriller/horror. It’s been doing well, and readers have asked me for more. My crime thriller is inspired by this novelette. 🙂

Ok, there’s a lot here today. First, I love the poem – us witches. Secondly, okay, not even a crumb of a hint what Book 3 is called, as I anxiously await it? And wow, now you’re switching genres. Go you!!! ❤ xx

Hi, Debby! I’m happy you enjoyed the Etheree. You and Colleen did pop into my mind a few times as I wrote it. 😉
You’re right, I should have mentioned the title which is ‘The Rise of Gadreel.’
I’ve always identified myself as a writer of fantasy, horror, and thriller. I wanted to finish my Fanatsy Angels Series before writing a book of a different genre. Although, my short story ‘Memoir of a Mad Woman’ is a psychological thriller/horror. It is the inspiration behind my next book tentatively called, ‘The Guardian Angel Killer.’
Thank you, my friend! ❤ xo

I’m happy for your writing adventure, Vashti. My children’s story is done for editing. I’ve been writing the descriptions of the illustrations. I also have a couple people who could do the formatting. 💖😍

I’m excited about that also. I guess once I asked a few people to help, they kind of got me going. And when I contacted the editor, illustrator, and formatting guy, they pushed me also because they wanted me to hire their services.
In fact I wasn’t all clear of what I was asking, but got a lot of communication before ordering each service. I’ll place the order for the illustration tomorrow. Then I’ll order the formatting and he’ll just send me an invoice because my story is ready but the artwork is not done. 🙂
