Hi, everyone! A warm welcome to my blog.
It’s the fourth week of July! Are you ready for a theme prompt? Sue Vincent selected the theme this week with a quote prompt:
“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.” Herman Hesse
What a beautiful quote chosen by Sue Vincent to challenge us this week. I love nature and that of course, includes trees. Methuselah is one of the world’s oldest living organism. This tree has been alive for approx. 4,789 years and still counting! Consider all the changes the world has gone through in that amount of time and yet, this tree is still standing. Methuselah lives on a isolated mountain top in California (USA). I’d love to be in her presence someday.
METHUSELAH
On a desolate mountain top you breathe
Teaching us lessons of survival
Gnarled and twisted you stand your ground
The Earth’s oldest living thing
For four millennia
You’ve observed the world
Your endurance
Your spirit
Inspires
Awe
I hope everyone enjoyed the post. Have a lovely Friday and weekend! ❤
Well I for one would love to celebrate Methuselah’s 4,800th birthday with her

Methuselah is a bristlecone pine. We had them where I grew up, but you had to climb way up to the mountain tops to see them. They are pretty awe inspiring.

I read that she’s a bristlecone pine and also, that she lives on a mountain top in California. So that’s where you’re from originally?

No. They are on mountaintops all over the west. I’m from Northern Nevada originally.

This tree is awesome, Vashti! The oldest tree in the world – I want to see it and touch it. Good job locating the tree. Your poem is beautiful!
“The tree’s exact location is kept a secret in order to protect it from arson. The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is at an elevation of 10,000.” 🙂

These pictures alone bring me calm. I love trees, especially willow trees. There is just something so grounding about them. When I go on vacation, I always find myself taking pictures with trees. Lol!

You’re right, there’s something calming and soothing about trees. When I visited Japan I took so many pictures of trees. Ha, ha. ❤

Perfect and a fitting story Vashti! Sorry I can’t ‘like’ as my laptop died and I’m on an old clunker who doesn’t play nice with WP. Lucky I can share on some blogs and comment LOL. Gotta love full moons! ❤

Don’t worry about it. I have trouble ‘liking’ with my phone for some reason. Thank you for the visit and comment, and I hope you get a new laptop soon. ❤ xo

Beautiful piece, Vashti. Boy I’d love to visit that old tree. The closest I’ve seen in real life is a Huon Pine down in Tasmania that’s 1800 years old. That was impressive enough!

Hi, Elizabeth! Could you imagine if Methuselah could talk? What wondrous stories and history she would reveal. Empires have risen and fallen in the time she’s been alive. It’s unbelievable. Thank you! ❤
