I’m in such a great mood today. It is a gorgeous spring day outside and it’s National Puppy Day! Although my Pomeranian, ‘Scribbles’ isn’t technically a puppy, he certainly looks like one (and he’ll always be my puppy), so I’m going to share a couple photos of him. This little dog always makes me smile and his little face and expressions soothe me. He also keeps me company when I write.
This is my Pomeranian Scribbles.
Isn’t he a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e? He’s also very smart and contrary to what some people may believe about Poms, super sweet and affectionate.
Scribbles with his favorite toy (littlereddragon).
I love my little fur baby but it’s time to move on.
*The catch is that we can only use the synonyms to these words in our poems.

I love this week’s prompt words they’re so much fun. I have a two year old Pomeranian named Scribbles. He is sweet, affectionate and very intelligent. He recognizes his toys by name like, ‘Red Bone’, ‘Gingy’ or ‘Purple Fish’. I set out all his toys and I ask him to bring me the purple fish and he’ll go right to it and bring it to me. It isn’t that he recognizes colors––at least I don’t think so, but he does associate the name with the toy.
He can also recognize when ‘momma’, that’s me, is distressed and he’ll come to me and caress my face or hug me. Yes! You’ve read correctly––he puts his little arms on either side of my neck and presses his little face against mine––that’s a hug! He also gives me lots of kisses which I love.
Scribbles is momma’s defender too. I’d advice you never to come at me suddenly or yell or raise a hand at me. He will growl and show his little teeth and bark up a storm. As if this furry little five pounder could actually hurt anyone.
I love my little Scribbles and he’s definitely part of the family. When my mom calls she always asks me to put her on speaker so that she could say hello to him. Last Christmas he received lots of toys from his family as he will this holiday.
My little pom is a great companion and he makes me very happy, so it’s with great pleasure that I dedicate this week’s haiku to my Scribbles.
Happy Haiku Friday everyone! Today’s prompt words were provided by RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge and they are Star and Child. These words made me think of one thing . . . my dog Scribbles. He’s my writing buddy, my protector (or so he thinks), and a ‘superstar’ in his own right. He is a 1 year old Pomeranian. I love this little guy and he’s my inspiration for today’s haiku.♥

I just got a puppy, and I’d like to introduce you to the new addition to my family. His name is ‘Scribbles’ and he’s a Pomeranian with a rare wolf sable color. I had forgotten how active puppies can be. He has me running in circles, but boy, do I love this little guy––already!
Scribbles
So in honor of Scribbles, I decided to write a post about animals. I love people, I really do, but sometimes I wonder if I don’t love animals more. Everyone who knows me well knows that I have great affection and respect for animals. I even incorporate them into my stories.
I found this online, and I thought it would be invaluable information for any dog owner.
Interview With A Dog
the silence is broken
We asked a dog to pull aside the shroud of secrecy and be interviewed. He asked that his name not be used, but for the good of all dogs he agreed to share these ten insights with humans.
1) My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be painful to me. Remember that before you buy me.
2) Give me some time to understand what you want from me.
3) Place your trust in me. It’s crucial to my well-being.
4) Don’t be angry with me for long, and don’t isolate me as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I only have you.
5) Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don’t understand your words––I understand your voice.
6) Be aware that however you treat me, I will not be able to forget it.
7) Remember before you hit me that I have powerful teeth, but I choose not to use them.
8) Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be wrong with me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, or I’ve been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting older and weaker.
9) Take care of me when I get old. You’ll be old one day.
10) Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: “I can’t watch, it’s too painful.” Everything is easier when you are with me.
And through it all:
Remember that I love you. ♥
Here are some more reasons I love animals so much:
In a world lacking empathy and compassion animals put us humans to shame.♥
True compassion: Elephants are among the most emotional creatures in the world. They have been known to rescue other animals.
