Writer’s Quote Wednesday

24 Jun

Hello everyone! Every Wednesday I participate in an event sponsored by Colleen Chesebro called Writer’s Quote Wednesday. I choose a quote that I like and relate to, and feature it on my blog. If you’d like to participate, visit Colleen’s blog, Silver Threading. She also does a weekly wrap-up of all the participants’ quotes every Tuesday.

Several people that have read my first book, The Basement, and then read my short stories and The Fall of Lilith, have mentioned to me of the difference between my first book and my written work afterward. Well, aside from gaining knowledge and experience after writing my first book, I also consider that my first book was something I was compelled to write, whereas my later works were written from pure inspiration and fun. I felt I had a message to deliver when I wrote The Basement, and I chose to convey it to children.

If you’re curious about my first book, The Basement, you can read about it here and here

Is there a piece of writing that you felt compelled to write? A book, short story, blog post, article that you felt you had to share? If so, tell me what and why you were compelled to write it. Share the link to your work in the comment section below.

Let yourself into my heart

Gossip

“Words! What power they hold. Once they have rooted in your psyche, it is difficult to escape them. Words can shape the future of a child and destroy the existence of an adult.
Words are powerful. Be careful how you use them because once you have pronounced them, you cannot remove the scar they leave behind.”

Hi and welcome to Haiku Friday! Ron created ‘RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge‘ to have a place for people to share and gain a little exposure to other readers they might not have otherwise AND of course to enjoy Haiku. We all have different people who visit our blogs. Visit the link and take part in this fun challenge. You don’t know what a Haiku Poem is or how to write one, no problem, read this.

This week’s prompt words are Pitch and Time. I had a hard time with these words. Since I’m currently working on my Fantasy Angels Series, I drew inspiration from my story and came up with this.

Do you believe in angels? If not, why do you think so many people claim to have heard and/or seen them?

“I went for years not finishing anything. Because, of course, when you finish something you can be judged.”

~Erica Jong

Does fear of rejection, criticism, ridicule paralyze you from finishing the project you’ve started? How much do you focus on what you think others may want from you?

Haiku Friday – Charge & Lovers

15 May

RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge

Welcome to Haiku Friday! I hope everyone is having a great day so far. Today’s prompt words are a little spicy, so I’m just going to go with it. I’m wondering what Ron’s mood was like when he thought of these prompt words. If you’d like to participate in Ronovan’s haiku prompt challenge click on the link above. It’s a lot of fun and you get to read many other great haiku on his review post on Sunday. My haiku has no title this week. I’ll let Ron give it a name. 😉

Can you have a healthy marriage without sexual intimacy? Do you think ‘making love’ is the most meaningful way for a couple to express love to one another? Do you enjoy sex? Or is it just a ‘bad’ word to you?

Writer’s Quote Wednesday

13 May

Hi everyone! Welcome to ‘Writer’s Quote Wednesday‘ prompted by Colleen from Silver Threading. Visit Colleen’s blog and take part. You can quote one of your best-loved writers, make up your own quote, or feature a quote you enjoyed from one of your favorite books.

Stephen King Quote

“You have to remain faithful to what you’re working on.”

~ Stephen King

How many times have you been tempted to scrap the writing you began because you thought it wasn’t working out, but you stuck with it and it blossomed into a fascinating story? It’s happened to me several times. I almost gave up on my book, The Fall of Lilith on several occasions. At times I felt I was in over my head, but giving up would have been a mistake. Now, I consider The Fall of Lilith to be one of my best work to date. If you give up on a story every time things start to get complicated you’ll never finish a single one. If you get stuck, stop writing and go for a walk, eat something, bake, exercise, read . . . take a break from your writing for a while, and when you return to it you’ll see things from a different perspective.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Haiku Friday! Today’s prompt words are Source and Thought, provided by RonovanWrites Weekly Poetry Prompt Challenge.

I thought you loved me

Cupid’s arrow stung

He completely missed the source

I thought I would die

“Hey, Cupid? Yeah. It’d be really nice if next time you shot both of us!” I found this hilarious statement on Tumblr and thought it would go perfect with my theme.

Do you ever think about the one that got away? Have you ever experienced unrequited love? Have you ever been stalked by someone (or stalked someone)?

Haiku Friday – Love & Last

30 Apr

RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge

Hello! Welcome to my blog! I have to admit that when I read the prompt words for this week’s Haiku Friday, Love and Last, I was in a weird sort of mood. Once in a while, I get in a goofy, laugh at everything, I want to play and joke around mood, and that’s the kind of mood I was in when I wrote this week’s haiku. I was also starving after hours of writing and I wanted to celebrate because the writing went well. So I celebrated with––you guessed it––food.
