Why I Think This World Should End

19 Sep

Some of you read the title to this post and were probably shocked by it. It isn’t like me––an optimist––to post something like this. It isn’t what you think. I watched this video and it moved me to tears. There’s so much truth in his words. Some people will be offended––the truth offends some people. If I offend you it’s not what I wanted. I believe this video should be watched and shared. You let me know what you think in the comments below.

It is coming to an end. You have a compassionate heart Vashti. Guard it carefully. I don’t know the young man in the video but he might have one too. He seems like so many other young people to want love, compassion, peace, and caring for the world. But like so many generations before his they don’t grasp, don’t understand, where those things they want come from or how to gain them.
He (Prince Ea, I believe) generally quoted the love of money is the root of all evil verse from the bible in his video. Most people know that quote in error. It actually says, The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Money does not make people evil, guns don’t make people evil, religion doesn’t make people evil, and politics doesn’t make people evil. People (I use “people” in a general sense) don’t need any of those to be evil, they just need themselves. People (I know because I am a people too) can turn anything evil because they like evil. Being sinful, evil, lustful, and hateful is easier than being genuinley righteous, good, helpful, and loving.
I have been around the block a few times too many and met just about every kind of person out there so I can tell you from what I have seen(breaking away from the general) this. There are a precious few who do (on at least a semi-daily basis) love their neighbor from the time they wake up, to the time they go to bed. They only do it by following as best they can the life, thoughts, and actions of Jesus Christ. He was the only one able to actually pull off loving his neighbor more than himself every day.
Have you ever seen someone driving down the road with sparks flying from a flat tire. Many refuse to stop because they are: too busy to stop; too ignorant to know how to change a tire; or too proud to get dirty and change a tire? A whole lot of people (probably the majority) feel that same way about their trip down the road of life on planet earth. People are too busy, too ignorant, and too proud. Sorry but that is the truth. It’s not going to get any better any time soon either, quite the opposite actually.
If my rather lengthy comment has offended anyone, it is not my intent. I, like Vashti, am sorry that the truth hurts sometime. But it does. It hurt Christ to death.
Vashti, this comment was primarily written to help what I believe is a genuine hurt in your heart. Feel free to approve it for your blog or delete it….your call. Take care of yourself.

Hello James! I’m sorry for the late response. I spent the weekend, first preparing (cooking up a storm), and then celebrating my father’s birthday. We (my siblings and I) wanted to throw a big bash for him this year because we’re not sure if he’ll be around next year (due to his health condition).
Anyway, I agree with most of what you wrote. Thank you for saying I have a genuine heart I certainly do try to be real. I couldn’t be happy otherwise. I’m mostly a happy person, but I’ve had a few bad experiences of late, and sometimes watching the news gets me down. Like I said to my friend Zee; I wish the media would balance the good news with the bad, instead of it all being bad news. I’m sure most people want to know about the good stuff that happens too. The message I got from Prince Ea’s video is that if everyone tried to be the best person they can be everyday (not just during the holidays) the world would be a much better place, and I agree. During the holidays, Christmas, Thanksgiving . . . I see people exercising patience and tolerance that they normally don’t during the rest of the year. People are kinder, friendlier and generous during the holidays. Why not make that kind of effort all year round. Maybe, like you said, it’s easier to be rude, unfriendly, and impatient, I don’t know. I also believe that fear stops many people from doing the right thing sometimes. There has been times when I’ve wanted to help someone on the side of the road, and then I would think back on something I heard in the news about a person being set-up, robbed and killed for stopping to help someone on the side of the road. Maybe it’s silly, but there are people who prey on the nice guys, so even if you want to help, that fear of being taken advantage of, kicks in. Thank you so much for speaking your mind and for your kind words. 🙂 xx

All true Vashti, the bad and the good. We have it within us to be nice, to be kind to accept others and show tolerance. If we can start and get others to copy then maybe mankind stands a chance. If not, well, I suppose we deserve what we get.

Hello David! True words of wisdom. Why is it that during the holidays, like Christmas and Thanksgiving, people who normally lack patience and intolerance suddenly become sweet, kind, patient, and tolerant? Why can’t people make this kind of effort all year round? The world would be a much happier place. 😀 ❤ Hugs and Kisses ❤

Hello Yolanda, a sad truth it is. If every decent person would try to forgive and forget, and show love, empathy and consideration on a daily basis they could make the world a better place for those around them. 🙂

Hi GiGi! The truth is hard to hear sometimes, especially if everything is going well for you. Some people don’t want to ruin their good times or happy lives worrying about the horrible things going on in other people’s lives. I think his message is simply a call for empathy. *hugs* 😀

I see your point, and I definitely have my cynical days! The way we’re going, the world – or at least the human race – will probably end sooner rather than later.

But back to your main point. I think there are two sides of the world, and there are extremely bad things we do as well as extremely good things. It’s important not to lose sight of the good things.

Sometimes these bad events and actions are depressing, but I try to use them as motivation: what can I do to make a difference? Part of this is through building student confidence so they can go out and make the changes they want to see in the world, and partly by trying to be the best kind of person I can be. Kindness starts with small acts.

Hi Zee! Yes, kindness begin with small acts. Well said, and spoken like a true teacher. I know there’s a lot of good people out there. I wish the media would balance the bad news with the good. For every 10 news reports there are 8 bad and maybe 2 good stories. I think we all need to see and hear more of the good stuff that happens and like you said, try to make a difference in your own life. Very good! ❤

This young man is very talented, honest and brave! The world has many good people, but many, not so good. It’s always been that way, and always will…until it ends.

I’m sure you’re right, Doreen. It’s just difficult to watch and accept sometimes. 🙂 He is very talented and honest. I think because the world can be a dreadful place sometimes, judging by the news, we should try to be as loving and caring to those around us to make it easier to bear. ❤

The world will obviously come to an end because more people are not being part of the solution… so they become part of the problem!

Hi Jassie! You’re right, there are way too many people who become part of the problem because they make the choice not to make the effort. Here in the USA there are moments that make me truly proud to be an American and part of the human race, and then there are moments that make me want to cry. The capacity for good is there, people just have to want to love and be the best they can be––always. I know it’s hard, but it’s worth the effort. 🙂 xx

It’s funny how all we want is the good stuff of life and yet we don’t make any any effort to sustain the good things. I don’t seem to understand that sometimes, especially those who choose not to do anything to stop something that’s obviously wrong. Too many people feel that it’s not their business.

I think too many people feel they have good lives––they have good jobs, live in nice homes, in nice neighborhoods, and drive nice cars. They live in this little bubble of perfection and turn a blind eye to all the bad things that may lurk right around the corner. They don’t want to admit that there’s a problem because that means they have to leave their comfort zone and do something about it. They’ll remain comfortable until the problem hits home and their bubble bursts. 😦

Perfectly said Vashti. That’s also the reason why most of the activists we have today have gone through trouble in their own lives !

My husband showed me this video a few weeks ago. It’s very moving. I have to keep believing, though, that in spite of all the horror and evil in the world that is constantly reported by the media, that there is a equal amount of good in the world that doesn’t create exciting headlines (and therefore doesn’t get reported).

I think that people, especially in the more wealthy countries, are so comfortable with their lives that they become anesthetized to what’s going around them. We get used to looking out for ourselves and don’t even see the person whose care is broke down on the side of the road. We watch the news everyday and become numb to the horrors because its the same thing every day. In the end, we lose touch with other people, lose the wonder that comes from experiencing nature and forget what it feels like to do good for others.

It’s easy to get bogged down in the doom and gloom, but we must keep looking for the good and creating good for those around us. We may not change the world as individuals, but we can change the world of those we come in contact with everyday.

    Great post! Thank you.

Hello Miki! I saw this video on Facebook and I was touched by it. The massage I got from it was a positive one. My intention in writing this post was to spread a message of love. Like you, I too believe that there is a lot of goodness in the world along with the bad. I wish the media would focus part of their energy in showing us the great, heroic, and positive things that happen in the world instead of just the bad. Thank you for the kind words and lets continue to spread the ❤ xx
