Angry Mountain – Haiku

21 Nov

Hello and welcome to ‘Haiku Friday’. All poetry stem from somewhere. Whether it was something beautiful you saw in nature, a great movie you watched, a foreboding you have, a dream or perhaps a great feeling you got from listening to a favorite song or from tasting something scrumptious. Well, that brings me to today’s haiku. Most of us have at least one person in our lives that seem to live only to try to make us miserable. She’s a negative force that tries to crumble your bright ideas and taint your good nature with her evil venom. She is rude, unpleasant, malevolent, and can’t stand to see a smile on your face. Trying to get along with her is futile because that’s not what she wants. You try to get away from her, before she makes you sick with her diseased nature, but you can’t, because you’re tied to her in some way. That toxic character I’m forced to live with inspired this haiku.

Hello Vashti, I know a person who fits this description, and I do my best to avoid her. You wrote this poem so well and it really is powerful. Love the image too!

I’m sorry to hear that Michelle. I know it isn’t easy. I try to avoid her too, whenever possible. Thank you! 🙂

Sorry to hear you have to live with such a horrible person in your life, Vashti. 😦 My best advice? Don’t let her get to you. Use positive affirmations to help you. They work for me.

Sweet, imagine a glass panel between her and you. She can see you, but her energy bounces off the glass. xxx

Hello Serins! I’m so glad you enjoyed the haiku. Yes, I’m trying really hard to be strong and I’m not going to allow her to bring me down. Thank you! 😀

Thankfully, I do not have anyone in my life like this hot lava face you have in yours. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. I have had people like that in my life, and I have created a lovely distance 🙂
Wishing you all the best. Shake those haters off 🙂

I’m happy you don’t have anyone like this in your life now. I try to keep my distance but it’s difficult right now. Soon, I will be able to distance myself from her. Hopefully she’ll be ‘somewhat’ out of my life in 2015. I can’t wait. Thank you so much! 😀 xoxo

Never have got the hang of writing a haiku, so I am super impressed with yours! Goes to show that even the misery caused by “some people” can still create beauty

Thank you so much! I used to be very intimidated about writing haiku but I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a lot of fun. Give it a try, and if you come up with one you’d like to share I’ll feature it on Haiku Friday. 😉

    Vashti,

Unfortunately, a lot of the time this person is my husband. I often think of making a break because I can’t take it anymore after almost forty years, but I stay trying to make it all work out. When things are rough, I simpy ignore and go about my own thing. What else can I do? Forty years of my life is a lot ivested. I often wish I was twenty or thirty again. Starting over would be a lot easier.

Wow Sunni, that’s awful. I’m sorry you’re going through this with your husband. He should be your #1 supporter and not the cause of your grief. Have you tried couple’s therapy? There could be some unresolved issues between you that you don’t know about. Have you heard the quote, “It’s better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with someone.” I wish you all the best. ❤
