Songstress

She sings with the wind
Melodies of gilded love
That unlocks my heart

Chickadee

Awaiting twilight
The bird sings of golden stars
. . . and dreams of freedom
A gilded cage’s still a cage

Enjoy the weekend!
LOVE “…but singing makes it feel free” exactly how I felt when I was a professional singer.

You amaze me Annette! So you were a songstress? I’ve dedicated the haiku and tanka to all the lovely singers I know. I’d love to hear you sing. ❤ xx

Wow Vashti. This quite a post–all of it building to your amazing tanka at the end…that one is really something to ponder.

I’ve always felt that singing has a healing effect on people. So I tell people to sing out loud, whether you are a good singer or you can’t carry a tune to save your life. I’m not the best singer but I love to sing––in the shower, kitchen, backyard while wetting the grass . . . it makes me happy. I’m so glad the tanka made you reflect on things and that you enjoyed the post. Thank you! 🙂

Music has been a major part of my life too. Less now than in the past but I agree — singing is for everybody and feels so good.

Beautiful Vashti. Singing while in the gilded cage makes one feel free. Perfect. I believe it would, even if not forever.
