Hello, everyone. I wanted to give a quick update. My surgery went well. The surgeon did come across some bowel adhesions that he had to repair. I’m not sure how adhesions are formed. I guess the surgeon will explain when I see him in two weeks.
I have to be honest . . . I’ve never known pain like this before in my life. I got Percocet for the pain but it only seems to work when I’m reclining or lying perfectly still. Getting in and out of bed and standing/sitting is the worst. I was warned there would be pain but I had no idea it would be this bad. I guess the repairing of the bowel adhesions added to the the overall pain of having my uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and lymph nodes removed.
Despite the pain I’m happy that the surgery went well and that the surgeon was able to see and fix the problem with the bowel, since it prevents another surgery down the road. I know the pain will subside with each day, so I’ll hold on to that.
I have a low-grade fever which is normal under the circumstances. I’m a little foggy due to the strong medication I’m taking. I’m not used to taking narcotics. I was a little bit of a coward this morning. The thought of getting out of bed and feeling the pain was really scary but with my husband’s help I did get out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. I’m so grateful for my husband.
I can’t tolerate sitting here too long so I’ll be in touch in a few days.
Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. You have all given me so much strength.
I’m glad the surgery went well, though sorry you are in so much pain. Hoping for a speedy recovery!

Vashti… so glad you are recuperating. I too experienced the worst pain of my life during the same procedure. Lay quiet and rest for a week. You deserve it and need it. Hugs and love to you. ❤

I am very happy to hear it all went well and they did extra repairs avoiding any further surgery. I’m sorry of the pain you are suffering….I hope it dissipates quickly. I don’t ever take pain pills either so I understand how weird and hard it must be for you. Hoping for the speediest of recoveries for you and continued positive news. Good news. About the surgery. They normally fond a bunch of stuff when they open up. (Like when you lift the hood of a car!) 😉 But that is fixed.
The pain is normal. It will take a few days. The mere fact that you can get up (with help) is a good sign.
Hang on there. You will be fine.
Cheers.

Vashti, you’ve been on my mind since I read your last post. I’m glad to hear the surgery went well and measures were taken to avoid future problems, albeit unexpected. I hope the level of pain you’re feeling eases with each passing day. It’s a slow and steady recovery process, as I experienced with my father this past summer. He had unexpected bowel surgery. Be patient with yourself and always know you have so many people cheering you on. Soft (((hugs))) across the miles. Stay well, my friend. XO

So happy to hear from you Vashti. I can only imagine the pain. If you want my advice, I wouldn’t be getting up and walking for at least 2 days. You need to heal, that’s when you take the meds and sleep. Sleeping = healing. ❤ Get well soon. ❤ xoxo

I hope you are beginning to see a way through all of this,Vashti. I had something simpler, a few years ago – a gallbladder removal – that left me with peritonitis, a and a surgeon who didn’t believe there was anything wrong. It was touch and go but for some obscure reason I survived and today my health is pretty reasonable. Suppose what I’m saying is that everything passes and pain becomes a memory without the sting it once had.
Like everything in your life, it will inform and clarify your writing, although I don’t recommend radical surgery for that purpose!
Be well 🙂

Praying for you! Have your hubby go out and buy you an abdominal binder to wear and help support you. Take your pain med 15 minutes before getting out of bed. Use the binder all the time. They should have done a nerve block on you and I’m sorry they did not. Adhesions just happen. Scar tissue can just happen. The adhesions/scar tissue had to be cut away from your bowel. That is why you have the pain. It isn’t so much the organ removal as the bowel was messed with, a lot. Hugs, and Love.

You have been on my mind, Vashti. Here’s wishing you the speediest recovery ever. Easy obviously does it. Such a lot of ‘tinkering’ in your insides must leave them protesting! All patience to you and heart-felt wishes for less pain. Hugs xx (gentle ones…).
